Is this a good AMD processor?
Ok so ive recently made the switch from Intel to AMD (I can't stand having to haggle people on ebay just to get a decent Intel processor for less than 200 bucks anymore) and am looking for a high end processor to fit my gaming lifestyle. I mean like everything from Borderlands, Planetside 2, and Battlefield 3, to low power games like Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead. I have been looking around, and believe I have found the processor for me:

But then again, this is my first time buying from AMD, so I dont really know where I am or what i'm doing, so maybe some of you more AMD savvy gamers can help a newb out? any reccomendations are helpful and accepted.

I would highly recommend the Phenom II X4 965 or the FX 4170. You've chosen a good processor, but 6 cores will not help with gaming more than 4 cores will.

Well id suggest you spend the extra $10-20 and get an A8-5550/5600k.
Its the best amd gaming cpus. It has better architecture then both the phenom and FX series.
The a8-5600k can be overclocked to have more performance then the i3, and is alittle bit cheaper then the i3.
But so you know, the i3-3220 would be quite a bit better gaming performance (tho the 5600k can be overclocked past the cpu performance), the 3rd gen intels are the ONLY cpus that support pci-e 3.0. So if you want to get full use out of higher end cards, you should get that.
