When should I put the male canary in the same room with the female?

I've read that you need to introduce the male and female slowly. In the same room for a few weeks, then side by side(but so they can't see eachother) and then you let them see eachother, but not in the same cage yet. I find it rather confusing. So can someone give me a definite schedule as to when I need to start getting them ready for the breeding season?

Also, I have only 1 male and 3 females. Can I put the male in the same room with all 3 hens and then just choose a hen and place her in with him? Or won't that work? I'm new to this, I'm hoping all you wonderful people can help me with my questions;)

Update:

I want to breed the canaries naturally, with no artificial lighting. Could someone give me a breeding schedule?

I haven't worked with canaries, but I suggest you should put the male and the females in separate cages and put the two cages on opposite ends of the room and when their used to that, the you can move closer and closer until they are side by side. When you think they are completely calm in that position I suggest you get one of the females and put her in a large cage with the male and see how they get on (but make sure the cage is completely accessible in case of an emergency). if all goes well, slowly introduce the other females the same way, one at a time. And when they are all settled with that, them all four can be in the same cage.

is hard but not impossible, well is complicated when your male canary had much time without presence of a female or if this is a madure adult, these two factors can do influence rare behaviors between the relationship in your canaries when one of them is adult, the female feels stalker by part of the male.

adult males are notoriously and instinctively aggressive in the direction of any chook invading their territory, however if or no longer it incredibly is lady or male until they "comprehend" that chook. it could have been greater effective to place her in a cage next to his for roughly 24 hours, first, and to enable them to get to comprehend one yet another slightly...then to have presented them, however what's performed is carried out. it incredibly is going to bypass and he will grow to be enamoured ultimately.:) sturdy success
