Why is my kitchen water faucet pressure low?

It is the only faucet in the house that is low pressure. It came on suddenly, last week. Our house is old. Could a leak in the pipes do it?

Update:

It doesn't matter which is on, cold or hot, or both.

most likely a clogged airiater. I have had that happen to mine before especially if the water company has done any work on the water lines recently, sometimes sand or sediment or pvc shavings from the pipeline can get in there and clog it up. just unscrew the thing where the water comes out inspect it, you will see the water has to pass thru a pretty small place. if theres stuf in there it will lower your pressure. I highly doubt you have a water leak so bad that you would see a drop in pressure and if you did have a leak that bad you would also have air in your lines and that would be obvious when you turned on the faucet

Could be a clogged up aerator on the spigot of the faucet too, if some lime turned loose guess what the screen on the aerator catches it and you get poor water pressure at that faucet. Take the aerator off and check before you get a plumber to start plumbing work.

Most likely it is just a clogged aerator. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the faucet, take it apart, clean it out, replace it.

I doubt it has anything to do with a leak. You would see a leak.

Shut off the main supply and then replace the supply lines and local shut-off valves to the faucet. Old plumbing systems can have a lot of built up sediment in them which often breaks loose and plugs the line, usually at a valve or where the line steps down in size.

A leak definitely effects the pressure of your water, or a blockage. If its only the kitchen faucet then it's one of those two
