How much is this horse worth?
My mom has been working with a horse. The family has been having fights and might breakup. Even though she was promised this horse after the mother died she doesn't think she'll get it.
This horse is a papered Tennessee Walker, from the bloodline of Roy Rogers. He is gelded and my mom is the only one who can get close to him. He was owned by some cowboys who loved his speed but hated his walk. So they beat the walk out of him. He's abused and very weary of men. He is just starting to get his gait back. He is a red roan with a white hook on his face. How much is he worth? Last time we checked the lady wanted $5,000 for him.

I know you probably want THIS horse but if you are going to be showing or anything more than a pasture pet I wouldn't take him for free. The time and money you would have to put into him is huge. It doesn't matter his bloodlines or even training if he is terrified. I know it may be sad but I would stay away from a abused horse (unless he is still being abused than that is a totally different story) Sorry.

honestly, not much. it sounds like he has potential, but since he is so wary of people, it brings it down a lot. for a horse that needs to be pretty much re-started, i would say $300-$500. i ride english, so i don't know much about western horses or how much they go for, but i wouldn't pay over that for a horse that needs a lot of help and work. $5000 is a lot for a horse like that; for that kind of money you could get a horse that has been well-started and easily rideable. they're crazy if they're really asking that much
