Typical signs & symptoms of ADHD/ADD is;
In ability to sit still - fidgets or wriggle around (ADHD)
Easily distracted - has trouble staying focused on task at hand
Impulsive - interrupts others, blurts out the answer with out waiting to be called, has trouble waiting for their turn
Chats excessively - talks all the time, even when told to be quite
Poor attention span - does not listen to what is being said or asked, has difficulty following instructions
Disorganized - has difficulty to organize themselves to start or complete task/chores
Misplaces or loose things - such as home work, toys etc
Girls are often overlooked with ADHD/ADD because they are less disruptive and exhibit hyperactivity differently to boys.
Both my daughter and I have dyslexia & ADHD, my daughter was diagnosed at 9 years of age, where as I was 30, this is despite my having very clear signs & symptoms of ADHD & dyslexia in my early years of schooling. And I am a girl, all of my siblings have ADHD and they also have dyslexia but has not been diagnosed, the ADHD/ADD & dyslexia is a legacy from our mother.
Edit; SOME PEOPLE need to do a little research before sprouting utter rubbish about conditions they KNOW NOTHING about.
ADHD & ADD are REAL conditions, functional MRIs have shown the differences in the brain of those with ADHD & ADD, compared to those with out it.
ADHD/ADD is in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV), saying that ADHD/ADD are not mental health issues.
I might also add my daughter NEVER got away with bad behaviour and she would be punished for breaking rules, we also had strict routine, she certainly was not allowed to use her ADHD. My house is immaculate to the point of boarding on OCD.
I did not know I had ADHD as a child, so I could not use it as an excuse, and coming from abusive home we were to scared to step out of line, but I still clearly had signs of ADHD, which is reflected in my school reports.

Boys tend to be more along the lines of hyper and fidgety and never sitting still. They often blurt things out because they are impulsive.
Girls often go unnoticed because they are more likely to show other signs of ADHD such as daydreaming, fidgeting too but often just get labelled as slow, dreamy or spacey when they are actually quite intelligent. I am a girl with ADHD and have these symptoms.
Both genders can show a mixture of these symptoms but these are just the stereotypical ones.

They have parents who haven't a clue how to discipline them. My father knew very well how to get and keep your attention.
