Why do Australians immigrate to the UK?

I have noticed a large amount of Australian people now reside in the UK. Wondered if any of you could tell me what made you make the jump?

I'm considering doing the opposite (relocating to Melbourne, from the UK).

Australians only rarely emigrate (as in a permanent move) to the UK. Far more often, they go there for a few years and then return to the best country in the world (and its decent climate). They use their time in the UK as a base for visiting Europe and the other Northern Hemisphere countries and also to get business experience in a larger market to make themselves more marketable in Australia when it's time to go home. Australians are great travellers but it's a hell of a long way from here to any of those places and having a base in the UK makes sense.

It's relatively easy for us to move there, at least for a while and that's why you see so many of us there. When we're aged between 18 and 30, we can go there for 2 years on Youth Mobility Scheme visas; many of us are dual citizens because of a UK born parent (I'm one of them); many of us can get 5 year Ancestry visas because of a UK born grandparent (one of my kids is there on one at present) and others can get work visas because we're well educated with readily transferable qualifications but Australia still beckons as the place we want to raise our families.

For more feedback, I suggest you join the very busy and friendly Pomsinoz forum. You'll find hundreds of people who've migrated in both directions including more than a few 'ping pong Poms' i.e. the ones who oscillate between the two countries as they forget why they moved in the first place.

No longer rather. It's the immigrants that come over and don't bother to study our language and customs that annoy us. So many persons move right here and disagree with matters and say that might on no account be allowed the place they have been. But so what?? Do i am going to Iraq and assume Aussie girls to be walking down the road in a bikini? Of direction now not seeing that they do not do that over there so we recognize it. England and Australia are so an identical it would not rather subject. Count on to get teased alot though, it is all a bit of fun but subsequently Australia is just a better country in each part and we wish to remind you of that.

It is because of the cultural familiarities between our two nations. I would also prefer to have immigrations from Australia then some 3rd world sh$thole in Africa or Asia.
