need advice please!!! not sure what to do next..?

A couple days ago my good friend informed me of someone who wants to ask me out but was to nervous to do it. She and this guy are very good friends. Finally yesterday we talked on facebook for a good hour but i was the one who initiated the conversation. He did seem interested in talking though.. he actually put in an effort to talk rather then simple one or two word replies. Should i step back now and wait for him to try to talk to me?
