Can MRAs and feminists agree on some things?

A user named Darin posted some things he wants to make society more equal and I have to say I agree with a lot of it.

1. Make domestic abuse laws gender neutral. This would benefit gays and lesbians who are in abusive relationships.

2. End the selective service. I don't think women should be in combat because they are not as strong as men, and they would weaken the army (most soldiers in the Army would agree). Make our Army 100% volunteer so no one is forced to serve.

3. Split public assistance funds down the middle, government money spent on women must also be spent on men. Funding, cancer research, help for the homeless, single parents, etc. (Although Title IX funding does just that and many MRAs are unhappy with it). This does not apply to money raised through private fundraising, obviously.

4. Find a male form of birth control. Free birth control for men and women.

5. Make alimony temporary if a spouse was a stay at home. Give them a means to enter a job training program or schooling so they can earn their own money.

6. 50 % child custody, if both parents want this, and one is not abusive or on drugs. But what happens if one parent is too poor to support the children half time? I don't know.

7. DNA test all babies born. Would this be very expensive? I agree a man should know if a kid is really his.

So what do you think? Am I leaving something out? Please don't turn this into a b*tch fest to just bash men or women. If you hate the opposite sex I don't need to hear about it.

Update:

No I didn't Rowdy. Making a logical case for your goals and complaining about how misandry ruined your life are two different things. Only one of those things is whining. Maybe if you knew the difference the MRM would be more successful.

Update 2:

Metalhead, I don't know any feminists who have said those things. Can you tell me what feminists you have been reading?

Update 3:

If you're an MRA, tell me what YOU think. Feminists can tell me what they think themselves.

Update 4:

Thank you, Nerveana. I love you.

All of these except for number 2 are frivolous complaints from mock MRAs.

Domestic abuse laws are gender neutral. If you read the text of VAWA and other domestic abuse laws they're written to apply to both men and women. Public assistance in VAWA is not discriminatory towards males either. If you read the bill, the bill uses the broad language "victim" to describe those who are protected and can receive funding under the bill. Condoms are available as is spermicide, enough said. Alimony, child custody and DNA tests can all be handled favorably towards males if you get a decent attorney.

I'm all for equality between men and women, but the things that are pointed out here either shows an ignorance of the law or pure stupidity. Not all of their claims are legitimate.

    1.

Feminists affirm that since men are disproportionately the "aggressor" the laws should specifically be towards female.Although data from statistics Canada shows that abuse rates by gender are all most identical

3.Feminists believe that women are in a state of "social inequality" and therefore they deserve more public assistance

4.Feminists vehemently oppose male birth control because they think that males will abuse it by sleeping with women under false pretenses.

5.we both agree on this one

6.Although feminists hate the patriarchy they contend that women are "natural caregivers" and therefore deserve preference

7.Feminists argue that is impedes a womens ability to have financial/ stability/support while raising a child.Which is absolute bullshit.

Have you ever read The second intercourse? It relatively is not what you seem to think it's. It's impossible for an knowledgeable man or woman to take MRAs significantly once they twist information like this. It's utterly plausible if you are variety of ignorant, however or else the MRAs seem like fools.

I personally would agree on all of these. But I'm not a feminist or MRA. (Actually, I would simplify most of these down to "no law should be made that discriminates on the basis of sex.")

I wouldn't say that feminists and MRAs would agree to these, though. Feminism and men's rights groups have both specifically fought against many of these ideas.

Kinda funny, last night you referred to those ideas as "whining".

Still, several of those ideas directly contradict feminist theology and feminist political activity. Good luck getting feminists to concur.

You must have short term memory because last night you said the opposite.
