She sounds like a bit of a drama queen - if she wants to feel like a martyr, then that's her choice, and you can't force her to be happy.
But you can make the effort to have your feelings heard. Try writing her a note, or make her a big sweet card, telling her how you feel and why you appreciate her. Also, make an effort to include the sweet with the bitter: next time you give her attitude, start with a positive. "I love you, but I really can't handle your drama right now," "I know you're just doing it because you care, but I need you to stop meddling in my life," etc.

Just walk up to her, give her a big, long hug and say"Mom, your the best mom I've ever had and will have and wanted to thank you for raising me to be such a happy person"

Buy her one of those special greeting cards & then write a personal note inside. Then take her out for a treat, like coffee, etc. I think any mom would like this :)

When she does something for you, tell her thank you. If you don't want her to do something for you, just tell her thanks mom but no thanks.
