Guess I still have a fundamental problem understanding this topic.
A plane has an airspeed of 245 mph and a heading of 128.5°. The wind is blowing at a constant 45.5 mph at 38.5° from due north. Find the ground speed and true course of the plane.
The book's answers are 249 mph at 118.0° from due north.

draw the triangle and compute the extra side or add the north and east components of the wind and the 'plane.
