to tennis players who don't throw them away: what do you do with the dead tennis balls?

i have a number of tennis balls that are pretty much 'flat.' what can i do to these tennis balls that are no longer playable? are there any places that will take these and put them to use? i don't want to throw them in the garbage or toss them into the field.

Depending on how dead it is, you can practice hitting them just across a court not necessarily against someone to improve your hit speed. I used to do this and when I would play in matches the balls would leave streaks on the tennis courts.

usually I keep these in a bag/bucket/ball basket and take serves with them. it's nice because you don't have to get rid of them, and they'll do just fine for serving. alternately, you could use them for a dog if you have one, you could learn to juggle (something else I did, it's a lot of fun and improves your coordination for tennis), use them for pranks (cut one in half, fill it with flour, and glue it together again. get some friends to the court - it's pretty funny.), or make a sculpture (my club made a huge christmas tree by stacking tennis balls and hot-gluing them together).

There's a lot of different things you can do with them. Dogs love to play with tennis balls, you could give them to your pets or go to a local animal shelter and donate them for the dogs to play with. You can take them to an old folks home and they can use them to put under their walkers and chairs, or to an elementary school and they can use them for their chairs. Best of luck

At my old tennis clinic we would hit them into the woods and see who could hit them the farthest

    You can use them to:

    - practice your serve, unless they have no felt remaining

    - donate to old folks' homes for use on the bottom of their walkers.

    - give them to dogs, who often enjoy chasing them or chewing the covers off them.

    - depending on their condition, give them to places have gas tanks that can "pump them up," so they bounce like new.

I give them to elementary schools and middle schools to put on the bottom of the chairs. Trust me they will love you forever :)

I give them to dog owners wandering around with their pooch.

Paint them, a little bit, with their original colour and use them to decorate your room.

put them in a fruit bowl and admire them in your kitchen table
