DS: Oh dear, now look at what BYB's have come up with...?

This is an ad on my local classified site:

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=18704524&c...

I browse every now and then just to see what ridiculousness there is.. These people claim to have "Mini APBT's" that are NOT mixed breed.. Ha. So in other words, they're following the suit of "teacup breeders" and breeding runts to runts?

Has anyone seen this before? Obviously, I know they're just more BYB mutt APBT's that the world doesn't need, but I've never seen anyone claim "Mini APBT's"

Update:

Agreed.

And, tbh.. They don't even look very small to me. They look about the size I would expect to see an APBT.

Update 2:

The "mini" part is what caught my eye, and then the price tag! Seriously? Never, would I pay that much for ANY dog.

Boss: Hahahaha! Right??

Update 3:

Lorraine: When I finally read the whole ad, thats what I was thinking! You like smaller dogs, so get a smaller breed? Rather than effing up a breed that is already overly bred and messed up to begin with?

20 lbs is not that small for a correct Staffy - they can be in the low 20 lbs, and the CORRECT game-bred APBT can be as small as 35 lbs - this is no more of an extreme size change than a 40 lbs "British" Labrador Retriever and there is certainly the genetic basis for smaller dogs in the bully breeds larger gene pool (see the Boston Terrier and the Miniature Bull Terrier).

The most laughable thing is that they insist these are not a "bully breed". Er, right, because if you bred down a bully breed without cross-breeding you naturally end up with... not a bully breed? Second only to the outrageous price tag of course.

"Cockapoos" look to be very popular in my area. There may be normally some of breeder within the paper. There is also continually an "AKC Siberian Husky" breeder. "Cockapoos, eight weeks, $500. Call ___ at ____." an excessive amount of cash for a mutt but at the least the puppies are being given away at eight weeks. 5 "rare AKC Husky. 1 girl 3 boys $500 for girl 350 for boys. Home raised pups call _____." an excessive amount of for a husky within the paper. I do not relatively understand what "home raised" approach, is that some variety of breeder term? Do not get me began on the "infrequent" phase. They ordinarily simply seem like natural huskies. 7 "Teacup infants. Call _____." I don't know if this is a canine so I can't particularly cost it... Three here is an ad I noticed awhile in the past: "Teacups, Morkies, & Poddles! $600-800!" i'm assuming that this character owns a china keep and sells things known as "poddles" and "morkies". The place do I start? That is too much cash for a mutt or runt. What on the earth is a poddle? I have no idea if that is a misspelling of poodle or some style of clothier name. I'm guessing that this individual is breeding poodles, (teacup?) yorkies, and (teacup?) maltese whilst breeding the yorkies and maltese together to make "morkies". 9-10 Legit- My canine would not like canine beds. He has about 5 dog beds that he's never used. He sleeps on the floor or usually on an ancient sofa.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Well he might as well of got a true English bred Staffordshire Bull Terrier as they are this size anyway.. and even smaller. Maybe that is what he was trying to copy.

Here's the size of a show staffie... (not what the byb's breed)..

    Size

Desirable height at withers 36-41 cms (14 to 16 ins), these heights being related to the weights. Weight: dogs: 13-17 kgs (28-38 lbs); bitches 11-15.4 kgs.

Fail on the designer, backyard breeding and double fail on breeding for size against standard in the wrong direction- don't they know their target customer base prefers dogs that are larger than they're supposed to be, not smaller?

The person prefers smaller dogs, but APBTs aren't even very large when bred to standard as it is.

I didn't realize it was possible to fail at even being a BYB. That takes skill.

Wow. No, I have never seen someone actually claim a mini APBT. All these 'breeds' BYBs are coming up with are ridiculous. $2,500 for poorly bred BYB dogs?

Oh, that is nothing. When we were still stationed in Virginia, someone offered a miniature Saint Bernhard, guarantied not to get bigger than a beagle?! for whooping $3000 and people actually bought them, one of those 'smart' ones lived right next door to us

Too funny.. I heard about them long time ago. When we got our first bull terrier, she was a pup. Hubby had her in his truck and went to pay for gas...Two salesmen saw her and were talking claiming she was one..LOL... One said to the other, yep they do just as much damage as the regular ones....

Hubby just shook his head and left laughing...

I haven't seen these before. Some people will do anything for a buck. Disgusting.

I agree that the price is ridiculous, but is it any worse than supporting your local puppy mill/animal shelter that distributes purebred dogs?
