Breastfeeding question?

My nips were flat so I couldn't breastfeed, tried with my first and he couldn't latch, same with my daughter but for her I pumped (they sure stick out now after pumping so long, lol) but i stopped pumping at 6 months but now (7 months later) their starting to leak..... if I started pumping again would I get another supply??

I highly doubt you will be able to re-establish a supply if you stopped 7 months ago... It is normal to leak a little at times if youve breastfed in the past but it doesn't mean that you can produce milk without the birth of another baby....

However, the human body does amazing things and I have heard of woman producing milk for their children during natural disasters and famine when they hadn't done so in years.... So I guess if the need were there (not the pump) your body may do it....

Do you want to relactate? It's perfectly possible, even women that have never given birth can stimulate lactation. Google 'relactate'. It does take some effort (to relactate, not to use google!), but if you want to you can go for it.

Agree with another person that has answered your question. Babies don't need sticky out nipples to breast feed, they can feed from completely flat nipples as they draw plenty of softly elastic areola into their mouths. The reason nipples stick out is to help newborn babies find where to latch on. Some women with flat or inverted nipples draw the nipples out first, perhaps with a breast pump, and others just sandwich the nipple between their fingers and tickle the baby's top lip with it so the baby knows where to aim. Sorry that the health professionals around you didn't know how to help you get breast feeding established, the system is rubbish sometimes

Flat nipples are no reason not to breastfeed, they have nipple shells that you put over your nipple and it makes your nipple pop out then you take them off and feed your baby. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId...
