God: The Biblical god probably isn't real. If God did exist, then it would logically have to be some kind of force that pervades everything both imaginable and beyond imagination.

Sun god, moon god, tree god, snake god: You decide

1. There is no such word as "shintos". Those who practice Shinto are Shintoists. The religion is Shinto or Shintoism.

2. Shinto has no dogma and belief is not important to the religion so the question of "real or fake" doesn't enter into it. The focus of Shinto is getting the most happiness and fulfillment in this life through lifestyle and ritual. It can be approached either from a scientific point of view (various mental states) or from an anthropomorphic point of view (spirits and demons) depending upon which you are more comfortable with. There is no concept that this life is just some kind of preparation for whatever might come after.

The Bible, like many other scriptures, was written by ancient priests who all had their own personal agendas and biases. Even if they were inspired the information they received had to pass through their personalities/minds before it was written down.

The only thing of any value in the Bible to me is the teachings of Jesus.

OK, let's delimit this a bit. Biblical scripture: Allegory/Myth. Not necesarily worthless or fraudulent, but varying considerably in character and source, and definitely not "New York Times Reality." When the world was "created in seven days," (as an example), this probably meant in "seven eons" ...or "in principle" (which, incidentally, is a good translation of "In principio"...Better than "In the beginning").

Any belief that supports invisible sky critters is a scam...
