Can someone please explain this joke to me?
three cats are competing in a race. there’s an american cat named “one two three”, a german cat named “ein zwei drei”, and a french cat named “un deux trois”. the cats all swim across a lake. the american cat finishes first, the german cat finishes second, but the french cat is nowhere to be found.
why?

ah der twa cart sunk ... as in 1, 2, 3, the french cat sunk.

Actually, anyone who has taken properly taught French knows the word "cinq" is pronounced "sank". Sunk would be a past participle and would require the use of the word "was" preceding it as in "the cat was sunk" instead of just past tense, like "the cat sank".
When correctly pronounced, it should sound like " 'un deux trois' 'cat' 'sank' " which is why the cat was nowhere to be found after the race.
