Why did I receive a violation on this answer?
Question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmEgb...
This was my answer:
(Hello, I'm from Florida and I love the UK!
Good luck!)
What's inappropriate about this answer? Why did Y!A delete it?

It was chatting, this is a site for gathering knowledge to help all users. the question itself was a violation which makes it impossible to answer without violating the rules. Basically you fell into a troll trap. Either ignore questions like this or report them. Answering will always get you in trouble.

The question's deleted, but a bit of work with Google finds it was "Hello from England, Why are you Americans always bad mouthing my country?" https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&safe=off&tbo=d&out...
Your answer - "Hello, I'm from Florida and I love the UK! Good luck!" - is chat and a non-answer, because it doesn't answer the question asked: "why do Americans badmouth the UK?".
But the question itself was probably deleted as polemical chat too.

Any asker can claim to have been offended by any answerer, despite whether their complaint has merit. You may appeal your violation, but I don't think it will be taken seriously. The few violations I've received in 7 years have been upheld despite my protestations. It's gets pretty weird on Y!A.
