Help with trimming my rats claws?
I have two female 5 month old rats. There nails are getting quite long to where they scratch me when the are on my sholders. I was wondering what I can do to trim their nails down. I was thinking of putting a brick under their water bottle, would that work? Thanks in advance!

The brick will work, that's what I use. Or some other type of rough stone.
If you have ramps in your cage you could put one at the base of each ramp instead or along with the one under the water bottle.

the brick is one way to do it, you could pretty much use any type of stone once its cleaned. if you want to trim their nails its definately a two person job. one person will have to hold her and the other will have to clip the nails. you can use human nail clippers for this job. be careful not to cut the quick though. i would suggest trimming just the tip where it pricks your skin.

the finest thank you to maintain your rats nails trim could be to place a coarse outdoor tile (or brick of their cage) for them to climb over (placed their nutrition on there each and every so frequently) this way their nails stay trim and you dont must be afflicted approximately struggling with to cut back them with clippers :)

i have 2 female rats one is2yrs. old and the other one is1yr.old they best thing to do is call your rats vet. if you have one if you don't have a vet find one that does work with rats and let the vet do it because their nails impossible to do by yourself because it is hard to see their nails to trim
