Can birth control cause mood swings, irritable, anger, migraines....please any info?

I have been on the pill for over a year. Ever since I started my moods have been up and down but the last 3 months have been horrible. My migraines are to the point my vision is disturbed. My mood is horrible to depressed, irritable, just not myself. I also had blood work done and my glucose levels are elavated and I also have a b6 defiecency. I believe theses are contributed to the bc as well. Anyone have these problems? I think I'm going to quit taking them all together

Absolutly. What the pill does is trick your body into thinking you are pregnant. This causes fun things like sore breasts, bloating, increased appetite, and of course mood swings. The benefit is that since your body thinks you are pregnant, it stops sending out the eggs and that's why you don't get pregnant on it. I went through 6 different kids of birth control pills to find the right one, and every time my mood, period and other aspects of my body were affected. The really funny thing for me though is the fact that I am in the 1% of women that require the pill to become fertile. We discovered that accidentally several years ago, and when I found out I was pregnant, I lost the baby. BUT we tried again 3 and a half years ago, I STAYED on the pill during my pregnancy and delivered a healthy happy baby boy. Now he's turning 3 this summer. So, don't trust the pill alone, I'd continue to use condoms regardless of your status with the pill.

With many women contraceptive options have to be tweaked around with at the start till a correct one is found for that particular woman, we are all different and what works for one may be hell for another. I was on the pill years ago and didn't have any of these problems but i just found its didn't suit my lifestyle so i switched to the contraceptive implant, at first i had most of these symptoms you talk about but they seemed to disappear within about a fortnight of first going on to it. It may be that the pill may just not be right for you, sometimes the combined pill is too much for some women and they switch to the prostegen only pill which is very effective but has less hormones , best thing is to talk to your doctor and they will put your mind at ease, problems with contraception are probably one of the most common medical problems a woman may have! Don't worry as i said its trail and error for most women,

    Good luck

Those all could be side effects from taking the pill. You really need to talk to your doctor about a different form of contraception for you.

I never had any side effects from taking the pill but many people do.

Good luck in finding a new contraception! There are lots of options out there.
