Why all the emphasis on gun control ?

Over the last two decades, cow manure, Koolaid, and box cutters, killed more people than any amount of guns used in domestic terror attacks. Granted guns require less planning, and something does need to be done to keep them out of the hands of psychopaths.

The medical community has been seriously at fault for not coming forward and with government, developing a watch list of those who are a danger to themselves and others.

Good points. Cause its easier to blameit on gun control then on what really matters. Mental health is an issue.

"Gender is associated with certain mental disorders, including: depression, anxiety and somatic complaints. Major depression is twice as common in women.] The lifetime prevalence rate of alcohol dependence is more than twice as high in men, and men are more than three times as likely to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder. There are no marked gender differences in the diagnosis rates of serious psychological disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder." Wikipedia.

Women are more likely to kill children. According to the American Anthropological Association, more than 200 women kill their children in the United States each year.

Gun control is completely irrelevant. A total psycho nut bar like this will not run down and apply for a license, etc to get guns. He'll just buy them illegally or resort to something else. Probably a bomb which is even worst.

Statistics prove that a 1 in 350 million nutbar will not be stopped by gun control. Illinois requires a gun permit and has the 11th highest murder rate @5.6 murders per 100k in homocides in USA. Higher than Texas which has a low murder rate @2.34 per 100k. Its not a gun control issue. If anything this tells us that no gun control/permit states are safer.

Its a lone isolated mental health issue. Misandry does not help which is why males can't get the help they may need.

! So, are you trying to say, it's okay the guns killed some people, redirect to the total of cow crap and knives being greater in number of kills than guns? Guns do NOT require less planning and how can you guarantee they stay out of a psychopaths hands? Note the true crazies are the smartest/most clever ones and sometimes most successful.

But, I will just say as a supportive opinion, I don't think we need to rid of them permanently for it will end up like the Prohibition. However, what use is there of automatic and semi-automatic weapons other than violence? Are those really necessary? No.

But I do see your point and I don't completely disagree with you, but you can't shrug off the stuff that has gone down because of this gun-crazed culture.

Source(s): Did you hear about the case in China? If you look it up, let me just say this is not a good argument to use against Gun Control because China has huge population. One class room typically has 40 kids, minimum, so it won't defend your case... at least against me.

It's kinda odd...More people are killed today on the highways on ONE holiday weekend than the whole 20 years that the West was wild.OK,that's accidentally,I know. But when everyone was 'well heeled' (the original expression meant you were carrying a concealed weapon and not a lot of cash, which is today's meaning)everyone had to be a little more polite.Like at gun shows.People seem to be quite civilized there and I've seen rolls of hundred dollar bills safely tucked into shirt pockets.I could go on but why?The libs won't quit till they get your guns. They know they'll never have total control until they do.And these sick wackos that are killing people are playing right into their hands....

Source(s): A documentary on the West.As far as a watch list,it can't be effectively predicted when someone will 'flip out'.Many mentally ill people are simply not violent at all. A psych-profile might help when buying a firearm. It just seems that far too many folks want the gov't to protect us from ourselves and I'm not quite ready for that.Regards,BK.

Because they want to abolish the second amendment, which is the right to bare arms. If they can convince everyone that letting the people have guns is too dangerous for the public, they can stop them from being sold, or even take them away. Its a control thing for our government.

I'm genuinely interested in how cow manure kills more than guns, and I have no problem with admitting it's true if there's evidence. Do you have any?

Also, guns are something that are relatively within our control. We can't reasonably monitor how people get killed by the koolaid man popping into to your house, but gun control in the long run would be beneficial. Look at Canada - only 0.51 homicides by firearm rate per 100,000 people. And the states? 2.97. You're 5 times more likely to die by firearms in the US than in Canada. And England? 0.07 per 100k people. So you're 42 times more likely to die of a firearm in the US than in the UK.

It's preventable, that's why the emphasis.

It's also shown that guns are used 80 times more frequently for protecting than for murdering or shooting with malicious intent.

Why indeed? Next time this happens, I hope the victims are YOUR children. And you can all high five each other about how your right to 'bear' (not bare) is so, so worth it.

    Whoop! Yeah!

Yes. Duh. Gun control is a pretty good start.
