Do you think the world will come to an end on December 21?

If so, why?

    Personally, I don't think so.

    1. There is no scientific proof that a planet will crash into Earth and destroy life as we know it or aliens from another planet invades our planet.

2.There are other reasons why people think that the world will not end on December 21 is because of their religious beliefs. According to what I know (and please forgive me if I am wrong), but no culture has ever had a correct date about when they world will end or even have a date at all.

3.Many predictions in the past have been concluded wrong. A website, http://www.abhota.info/end6.htm , shows a long, detailed history about Doomsday.

    4. One reason people believe that the world will end is because the Mayan calender ended at 2012. As we now know, the Mayan empire declined in the year 80 C.E. The reason their empire declined is unknown. They might have stopped adding onto their calender because of their decline. To explain this concept further, this is an example. Say we were lived in the year 100. We have a population of about 100,000 people (this was a lot back in those times) living in city and we were called the Bikini people. One important job in our community was to study the starts to predict the future of our empire. By the year 230, our empire has declined (basically meaning the population is becoming smaller or there is not a lot of 'our people around') and our population is now only 300 people. People have basic living needs such as food and gathering water and back in those days, this used to take up lots of time and people. There would be no time to study the stars when you have so many basic living standards that you have to do. Would you rather study the stars to predict the future or starve to death? Of course you would drop all of your extra activities and try to survive. Now, our people have forgotten the science of studying the stars that their ancestors spent years perfecting. This is just an example, but I think you get what I'm trying to say here. The Mayan population declined and there was no one to continue adding onto the calender.

    5. Plus, there are so many theories as to how the world will end on December 21. Planet X will crash into Earth and so many other theories, how do we know if any of them are true?

I'm not trying to be mean and offending anyone was not my intention. But the bottom line as to what I'm trying to say is that there are many reasons on why the world will most likely not end on December 21.

2am! While you're asleep the arena will explode! The center of the earth will give up and the whole lot gets reall sizzling and each and every volcano on this planet will erupt, even the dormant ones! And humans will probably be burned or buried in ash. All the warmth from the volcanoes will warmth the earth up much more and the polar ice will all soften and the oceans will flood all of the land and those that were not burned will drown!

    Not really

But all of the recent media hype surrounding this topic makes me feel slightly uneasy. I really hope that the world does not end this week and I know it won't but there is always that little bit of denial in back of mind. Surely it can't? But what if it does?

When December the 22nd approaches all of this worrying will be over which I am excited about!

    Nein, not at all.

Incidentally, the Mayan calandar that people are going by for this ended before the 21st. It didn't include leap years.

Yes. Things have been getting quite smelly lately, and I'm getting tired of milking that same old cow

I don't know, maybe, maybe not, we'll just have to wait until that day passes all around the world.
