I am moving, and need tips....?
I would like to go to Australia, I like their economic situation, and the weather. I can deal with the spiders, (I am good with swords, maces, and spears.). I am woundering what steps i should go through in order to do this right. like when i get there go right to house hunting. I am concirned about currency exchange, banking stuff, citizenship. and the thought of a draft happening in the U.S. and Australia at the same time kinda worries me.
Additional Details
Assuming i have 1.5 million USD to start with, and plan on living off the intrest.
hey INDEPENDANT MARK2, i will never have that kind of cash, it is a hypothetical number, i just need it for calculations and such. also i'm not fit to join the military, that was just a thought that poped into my head when writing this. I appreciate your comment, but i can't help but feel a little offended by it.
Because personally i like my dream world. Best world ever. Regular world is for squares.

Our dollar is worth more ,don't worry about spiders etc, they are in the bush, we have the major banks here, citizenship, you have to wait a few years for that heres the link that will give you the information www.immi.gov.au all the best you won't hear me bagging the yanks, wouldn't be sitting here now if not for their help in WW2, so for me, you're welcome

Prepare upfront. Packing up useful crystal, porcelain and different breakables calls for a while. This isn't the position to hurry. If you're no longer hiring movers, begin good upfront of relocating day and make an effort to adequately % those units. Have the proper gear. Here's what you wish to have: high-quality bins in more than a few sizes; packing paper, bubble wrap, pliable cardboard, scissors, and packing tape. A enormous desk to put out your units and % on may be an foremost device.

And we are concerned that coming here is some guy who says he isn't afraid of Spiders but has become an expert at using Swords, Maces and Spears to protect himself from them. Those are your words, I can handle them and Ive become good with swords etc. I cant think of a single Australian EVER in all history who has claimed to go into battle against a spider with either sword, mace or spear? No sir, we just obviously go about it all wrong by simply squishing them under our boot or blasting them with a splat of Mortein. Swords, maces and spears to control spiders, somehow I DONT think that idea will catch on.You should be worried about the exchange as our dollar is worth more than yours and any kid , because only kids are worried about being drafted, well, any kid who has one point five million dollars is not bad, as we know here kids your age are lucky to make 2 bucks and hour if that. Lemonade stands and paper routes not much more. And just to be sneaky I looked at your posted profile which admits you are in high school? 1.5 MIL in your pocket and still at high school? Boy wonder huh? So your 1.5 mil is a tad b/s mate. You see, the comment about the draft let it all go pear shaped mate. As mentioned, only kids get drafted or adult reserves in war time. Your reserves are not on the active draft list at this time . Makes you a kid to worry about it.No credible adult either goes around pronouncing proficiency with swords as a means to repel spiders and posts he's still in high school with 1.5 mil in the Bank. Well kid, now your utter dreamworld has been exposed , how does it feel to know Australians arent gullible suckers who beleive a kids fairytale posted on the Internet? !!
Geez, I just love shooting down troll jerkoffs in here. There's so many Yanks who are.

I agree with Independent Mark 2. And given the recent events in Connecticut, would we want someone with these sorts of attitudes here at all? People who believe it's their god-given right to own military weapons, which mostly seem to end up harming innocent kids / students?
There is also the small matter that we don't just accept any old potential migrant. In fact we have whole islands devoted to dealing with people we don't want here. We have really good immigration detention centres here.
So unless you've got the right sort of visa and can prove you have some sort of occupation that we need here, I would suggest, to use a good old Australian expression, that you just b-er off and bore some other country with your daft ideas. Perhaps you could try Lagos? I think you'd fit in pretty well there....

You will pretty much have to qualify just like everyone else (eg be a certain age, have qualifications, have a job we want...)
There are business investor visas but I think it's a lot higher than 1.5 million dollars and you must actually be investing...

My tip is that you cannot carry swords, maces or spears here (unless you are spear fishing).
In order to get a PR visa you have to meet the requirements of the government & it could take years to get one anyway.

Come with your swords, maces, and spears in hand and you will be welcomed with open arms..

Stop talking out of your @rse, you won't be moving here regardless of how much money you claim to have.
