Is there any Downloadable Photo Restoration Programs I can get online?
I have an early 1900's photo of my Grandfather and I would like to try and restore it myself. Im wondering if theres any programs I can download for free or for very cheap online so that I can do it myself. If anybody knows of any, it would be greatly appreciated if you help me out where to go. Thank you.

Whilst the GIMP is great, like any new program its not specifically design to restore photos. Its the way you use the application and the specific tools to restore the photo. There is no "photo restoration" software, just digital pixel pushing applications that can be tasked to do so, its learning how is the trick.

So there are two great free programs: The Gimp, and Paint.net. They have capabilities that are similar to Photoshop. You can find them at Download.com.
