can the marines find out im ADHD?
I was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year in another state. I went to the branches and the army said just don't tell anyone, just shut up about it. The marines recruiter said that I should free up my entire medical history now cuz "we will find out everything about you." Was this guy just trying to intimidate me or can the marines really find that stuff out? Also, was the army guy serious? Should I just be quiet about it? Advice please. I know its important to be honest to the military cuz if they find out I lied after the fact then I could be court martialed no matter how long I was enlisted.

Question... Do you take medication for ADHD? If you do then you cannot enlist. You will not be able to maintain your medication while in basic, and for that reason alone you cannot enlist.
Also, when you enlist you are required to complete a detailed medical background, and if you leave anything off and they find out about it later... you will be punished and kicked out.
Be honest, answer everything clearly and make sure you have medical records to support whatever you say. They might let you in on a waiver, or might just let you in. The key is being honest, and that is not only important, but a key factor in being a Marine.
Best of luck to you.

If you can function properly and do not take medication, I would say your fine.
In my personal opinion ADHD is over diagnosed. Although if you can't focus on a simple task and can't follow an order that would be a problem. If a doctor just said, well you have ADHD then ignore it. Although if your taking medication to this day, you won't even pass the drug test at MEPS, yet alone qualify.
But back to the original question no they do not have access to your medical records unless you give them to them. Also they won't look in the other state unless they have a reason to. Or if someone told them you were ADHD, maybe in a security clearance interview, or if you decide to tell a military doctor later on in your career.

My Friend was able to enter the Marine Corps and he had Mental thoughts of hurting himself(suicidal much?) when he was young so therefore they sent him to a child mental place when he was 15, He never reported at MEPs and now he is Sgt. in the U.S. Marines. Is Wrong to lied to this great country? Yes!!!, but as long as you show no signs to your ADHD, then you should be find. They are not going to waste time and money looking back on some history, unless you need a like Secret clearance, so if your going to join try get 0300 Mos, those are the one that really don't need clearance.
Good luck to you and hope you get in.

My husband has ADHD and has been serving on lively responsibility contained in the Marine Corps for 6 years and counting. He has solid emotions about the USMC which go lower back to his youthful people and being kicked out of distinct uncomplicated and junior intense faculties through his damaging habit and short interest span. He has continuously advised me area of the rationalization the Marine Corps is so substantial to him is because at the same time as he grew to change right into a Marine he realized for the first time in his existence he replaced into customary purely as he replaced into and he replaced into solid at something. He has received 2 meritorious promotions in his first 2 years contained in the Corps. He has excelled in his MOS, being the most suitable tank mech in his Bn. you may do it in case you placed your recommendations to it. i do not understand if his recruiter knew or if ADHD ought to were a DQ even if it surely replaced into no longer a mistake, him transforming into a member of the Corps. solid success!
