  • How much to charge to build, run, and continually blog for a company?

A very small company would like me to build and run a website and blog.

    This includes:

    Articles

    Blogs

    Internet marketing

Making how to videos WITH articles

    Social media managing

Right now, he wants to pay me 14/hr for my welding AND have me run the site as needed all on the same pay.

    But I m a freelancer Dammit. So....

    How much should I charge?

Building the site is one thing.

I was thinking hourly, since I ve never done it before, so I can establish a baseline. Then after one or two websites I can start a hourly or by the page method (which is better? )

I was thinking 20/hr. Or should i stay on payroll and not charge him as a contractor?

    As for the articles?

Newbies I ve seen charge like 35 an hour, or even .04-.07 a word.

But I have little formal experience.

I ve written one article that has been published. I ve taken one college course in writing but I AM good with words and grammar, (excluding this of course)

He wants me FILL his website full of blogs and articles right away So, do I charge him by word, per piece or how I figure a project rate OR should I just bill him by the hour?

I was thinking 34/hr after the site is built. Just chugging articles and blogs out. Or .08 a word.

Then! How much to charge him to run it? Should I just stay on payroll at 14/hr. (Raises are promised , it s a probationary pay) or should I charge him industry rates and send him an invoice?

Someone please give me some kinda direction.

  • 5'7" @ 245 too short for MMA heavyweigh?

I want to get a few fights in the cage. I am 245 @ 5'7". I'm pretty strong, fast for my size, and my legs are like oak trees. I have very short arms tho. My concern is that if I get into the cage, would I be at a massive disadvantage? I'm concerned that I'm gonna be fighting giants that are just as strong as me. I know my density gives me an advantage on the ground . Should I just hold out and fight at light heavy?

  • how to naturally dread your hair if you need to wear a bandana?

I am familiar with dreading hair naturally. However as a welder, I wear a bandana for at least 10 hours a day. I have to in order to prevent my hair catching fire. How bad will this hinder the process? Should i just avoid the natural method and do them another way?

  • what exactly do you learn in college level english?

I am considering going back to college for English or writing of something to do with words. But, I am not too excited about the notion of being a broke college student again. I want to improve my ability to write but if all I am going to do is read, write, and interpret is it worth my time? Am I better off studying at home and do freelance work in my sparetime and go from there?

I am curious because I see some jobs asking for English majors but I'm wondering what do they learn in college that was too tough for them to understand in high school.

If u could list some specific things done in college English i would appreciate it. I know they have you read, do critical thinking and interpreting , grammar, vocabulary, and form. I may just be ignorant but 4 years seems like allot of time to learn to spell right.

    Thanks everyone.

  • good USEFUL degree that is complimented by an english degree.?

I want to do enlgish or literature or something of the sort, but everywhere I search people are telling me its a borderline useless degree to get by itself. But, music and writing are my bag. So, I want to get a degree that would appeal to me, that's is complimented by enlgish ( not sure the exact major, maybe English, classical, or creative writing.) As I plan to continue writing on the side and seeing where it goes. I've written poems, essays, short stories, 3 novels I'm working on, countless songs/poems, and a possible comic If I can find an artist.

As a person I am adventurous, creative, write allot, smart, great at problem solving, head strong, love to travel, see new things and excelled greatly at things that keep my attention. I love music, poetry, stories, philosophy, moving around, travelling. I love to research and love to learn new things. I am only 23 and have a bookshelf with books about goats, medicine, firefighting welding, dog training, sewing , cooking and plenty of fiction. I even considered enlisting and trying for sniper but I'm trying to stay around my family.

Other jobs I have considered that English could help are

Lawyer- I'm smart, good at debating and good at reasearch but I'm not too excited over wearing a monkey suit and working the system for promotions and being clean cut. ( I have long hair that I'm dreading and plan to be covered in ink and peircings)

Surgeon- sounds easy enough. Plenty to learn. I'm not a very compassionate person to strangers. And already have a good understanding of hospital processes.

Physics/chemistry - another smart job, plenty to learn and research must be done. Still, it sounds like I'd be a rat in a cage.

Advertising- from what little I know of it, it sounds like it could be benefit from my creativity , but I know little about it.

That's a few but. I don't know about many jobs that involve creativity and could be used with English. Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a nonstop mind, I'm creative and must be confronted with new challenges often or I get bored and ansty and start doing self destructive things just for new things to happen. Hence the urge to learn to sniper. It's not all that often that I hear of people getting bored of people trying to kill them.

If u have a source please list it as I will want to research it.

  • can the marines find out im ADHD?

I was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year in another state. I went to the branches and the army said just don't tell anyone, just shut up about it. The marines recruiter said that I should free up my entire medical history now cuz "we will find out everything about you." Was this guy just trying to intimidate me or can the marines really find that stuff out? Also, was the army guy serious? Should I just be quiet about it? Advice please. I know its important to be honest to the military cuz if they find out I lied after the fact then I could be court martialed no matter how long I was enlisted.

  • what kind of truck should i get?

Im looking to get a truck, not sure which make tho. ill be using it to:

eventually haul a generator/welder so i can welding jobs out in the feild. i think it could weight around 800lbs or so. i really am not sure bc i've never really wieghed one. once i get it, it will basically be a permanent part of my truck until i settle down and stop travelling the country. but i wont be buyinh it for a while like 2-4yrs.

will be used as a daily driver and long cross country drive.

possibly off road to use the generator welder on site at jobs.

safe for ALL seasons. 4wd preferably, but if u can make a good arguement for awd, ill see.

either an ext cab or a crew cab. not sure. i doubt that it will be a people mover, i just want my potential passngers be comfortable.sugestions welcome.

fair acceleration, its not gonna be a racetruck, but enough accelleration to pass grandpa on a two lane country highway safely WOULD be nice.

its gonna have enough bed space to carry my luggage plus the welder, idk, i have a 2000 ford explorer and i fill the back space up, including my stuff, tire, jack. im not sure what kinda welder im going to get, might be the style that sits in the bed, might be trailer style. idk yet.

not horrible gas mileage, esp since its gonna be hauling a frickin generator eventually, so as long as its not absilutely forsakenly bad.

reliable. either domestic or import. make an arguement and convince me.

not cheap price, but im not buying it new.

safety rating is not a concern. i dont. care.

    MUST BE MANUAL TRANSMISSION. period.

Diesel? maybe or maybe not? what do u think?

i've been thinking about maybe a ford explorer, truck style. a 2004 crew cab gmc colorado or mayve a s10. i;d like a wrangler but idt it'd have room for everything, ie welder, luggage, people.

are wrangler strong enough to haul heavy stuff like generator/welders or welders on a trailer?

oh and if i did put in that 4x4 trans, what would i have to get?

thanks, for those of u that are curious, no im not gonna hop into the wildernesss, just wanna travel and walk the roads.
