Liver damage due to severe Tylenol overdose reversible?

My friend took over 40 Tylenol and now has to get liver dialysis 3 times a week. Is she gonna have to be on dialysis until she gets a liver transplant? Please please please cite your sources.

There is no such thing as liver dialysis.

There would be a degree of recovery from this dose. So even though the function is slowed, it would be sufficient until old age, all things considered. Drinking would be an absolutely a terrible idea. And further episodes like this too. That person would be sick enough to find out that this was what did it and learn the realities of being sick as a dog.

There is no such thing as liver dialysis. There is a thing called kidney dialysis and that is done when the kidneys are no longer functioning at all. A person would have to either have dialysis or get at least one new kidney and couldn't live without either one or the other. You can't live without any kidney function, either naturally or from a dialysis machine.

Probably yes, that's what's keeping her livers functioning for the time being. Good luck to your friend!
