Both have influenece.....some things are determined through genetics like appearance, athletic ability etc.....some things such as behaviousal characteristics are affected by the environment a child is raised in

Both have tremendous influence. Someone adopted will look like parents because of genetics. Might even have some of their traits.. such as your birth mother might have a gift in the arts and pass that to you.. or anything.. like music, interest in science, medical, mechanics, etc... it's actually not unusual for an adopted child to take on a profession that a birth parent had without ever knowing what the birth parent does because shared traits and interests which draws them to that profession or one in the same field. Mental, genetic, emotional and other ailments might be passed on as well. If your birth parents need corrective lenses.. you are more than likely to. If your birth parents have depression, anxiety, diabetes, heart problems, etc.... you are more likely to. Of course environment does play a powerful role too. You might see your adoptive parents professions and be interested in doing that. If your adoptive parent is an emotional eater or really healthy and your birth parents are the opposite then it is possible for your weight to be different than birth parents. Your skeletal structures and natural characteristics you'll share more with your birth parents, but how you eat and how much you exercise will determine your weight.
