a rectangle has a base on the x-axis and its upper two vertices on the parabola y=12-x^2. what is the largest area the rectangle can have and what are the dimensions?

A = 2xy
y = 12 - x^2
A = 2x(12 - x^2)
A = 24x - 2x^3
A' = 24 - 6x^2
A' = 0 at x = 2
....+....2....-.....
So x = 2 and then plug in to find y which is 8.
A = 2xy = 2*2*8
A = 32 units squared.
