How long after taking hydrocodone is it safe and legal to drive?

This is in Montana, USA. When I search this I never get a straight answer. After taking a 10-350 hydrocodone/APAP pill, how long will it take for the effects to fully wear off. I've seen people asking if it's ok to drive while taking them, but I don't drive under the influence of narcotic drugs or alcohol unless I absolutely have to. Do I have to wait about 6 hours, longer, or even a few days?

Thank you.

This drug is effective for 3-8 hours in most people. So figure well AFTER that period for driving. Usually 24 hours later. I have heard of people going to work with major narcotics as prescribed by their doctor. Seems unreasonable to me, too. They have a prescription and believe they are NOT under the influence. Not sure I can believe any of this. Guess it would take an arrest to know for sure.
