How to I convert my video footage from .mpl to .mov?
I recently purchased a Panasonic HDC-tm700. It records fine and everything looks great on the camera. But I recorded most of my footage onto the internal hard drive before I realized that it wasn't going to the SD card. Basically, I'm trying to download with the camera connected to the computer through a cord. When it shows the files, they are are .mpl files and my computer doesn't read that. Does anyone know how I can either convert these files before/during the download or know of a free converter that I can download from the internet? I'm a college student and the purchase was one that wasn't exactly in my budget. Someone please help me!
Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but my computer is a Macbook Pro. Any help is appreciated!

Don't do what you are doing...
Connect the camcorder to the MacBook Pro with the USB cable. Put the camcorder into Play or PC mode. Launch iMovie. Under "file" select capture or Import... Import the video.
You can try converting the .mpl files using MPEG Streamclip from www.squared5.com or HandBrake from www.handbrak.fr
