How has BJJ helped you?

I am considering taking up BJJ and possibly pursuing MMA, to the ones who practice it, do it, how has it helped? Are you more confident, does it make you feel better about yourself, did it kick you into shape? Just want to know I am really considering it. Thank you.

BJJ has helped me so much. I was quickly humbled the first day i trained. I had to partner with a girl, she was a blue belt. and she strangled the crap out of me. She didn't over power me, she just waited til i got tired and used leverage and technique. BJJ is all about technique over strength. Leverage over power. I was hooked. After 4 months of training, my brother challenged me to see if my training was paying off. and i had him on the floor already tapping due to exaustion and i didn't even get the choke, he quit because he was tired. It has given me so much confidence. It keeps my ego in check, it does things that i can't even explain. it helps if you have anger problems, anxeity, etc. Because you can have the worst day, but when your on the mat training jiu jitsu, all you think about is jiu jitsu.. it keeps you focused on only jiu jitsu. I feel better about myself everyday. I lost 20 pounds in a month in a half. Go for it! train in the beautiful art of Jiu Jitsu!!! You won't regret it.
