VMWare stuck on shutdown, windows 7 PC?
My computer is Windows 7.
VMWare 4.0.1 build-528992, using Windows XP.
It's stuck on shut down, "Windows is shutting down"
I don't know how to get it to shut down and reboot.
The virtual machine is stuck, not the PC.
Open the VM console - What is this? Right now VMWare is open and running, stuck on shutdown screen for XP.
Select the VM - Where is this?
Turn it off - Where and how? How do I get it to reboot and start?
UPDATE:
I have no idea what to do with this "fusion" thing...I did try to Google a solution first. Fusion seemed to be Mac, I'm using PC. There is no "shut down guest" on my VMware. Alt does nothing.
To anyone lost like me -- Go to the top menu bar and click "virtual machine." The drop down menu will show "power." Go there. Now choose "power off." You'll get a scary, "are you sure you want to do this?" message. Click "yes." It's the same as pushing the power button or a forced shutdown. From there, restart VMware as you normally would and it should start up normally.

I recommend force shutdown of Windows Virtual Machine as instructed below:
1) Go to Fusion Virtual Machine menu, and press and Hold the "Alt" key of your keyboard, now the "Shutdown Guest" option will change to "Power Off"
2) Select Power Off which will force shutdown the Windows OS. |

FYI; dunno why you're running VMware. Win.7 has Virtual PC - it was made for Win XP
