Why did the Jets even bother to sign Tim Tebow?
They rarely play him and when they do they criticize his performance to no end even though Mark Sanchez is terrible. The general consensus on the team is that Tebow sucks. If this is the case why did they bother to sign him in the first place? Was it more or less to remove the risk of having to play against him if he were playing for an opposing team? And another thing they resigned Sanchez at the beginning of the season to a multi year contract and have consistently stuck with him as the primary quarterback so why get Tebow as well all things considered especially how he rarely gets utilized?

Obviously they did it without Rex's wanting it. He's not going to change his offense for Tebow even though, everywhere he's gone, he's won.
Yeah, he doesn't have the classic throwing style but how many coaches were ever quarterbacks? Yeah, I thought so.
Quarterbacking is all about leading your receivers into open territory so they'll trust you and catch the ball. The reason why a lot of quarterbacks fail isn't because of their throwing style, its because they've let their receivers get hit once too often. There are plenty of perfect passers out there that I wouldn't want to play for because of this one small point. Believe me, I played both positions, it matters a great deal.

either for trade bait, or maybe to sit him for another season, and then play him. Even though tbow had a great first season with denver, tbow was just showing he has the talent to get the job done, but no-one lasts long at that pace. the trouble with tbow is, he is an unproven item who is playing behind a qb who has not won a superbowl or has made it to the top 10 of his position. I am not sure who sanchez played for before, but to be fair to him, he is maybe better than romoe, and probably as good as flackco and rivers. The jets have deep pockets, so they picked up tbow cause of all the hype or new media attention he got from playing in his rookie season, and having had a pretty good rookie season. tbow might also have been a hysman trophy winner. If there is any glitter out there, you can be sure that either the jets, or giants will be looking to sign that player eventually.
There is little sense in playing tbow in case he gets hurt, and then the jets get stuck for his salary and have no backup.
My guess is, tbow will sit next year, and if sanchez cannot improve on this years record, we would probably see tbow play the following year. maybe tbow is not paying attention enough to the jets program, so, then, tbow will get traded, maybe by the end of next season.

When you're in a market with the Giants who have won 2 Super Bowls in the last 5 years and you're team has nothing going for it you have to get on the sports pages somehow and Tebow was a good way to get media attention.
Tebow will be released since nobody is going to give anything up to get him from the Jets.

Demographics.
Money.
Those aforementioned words were the only reason they signed The Genuflecting One. The Jets management had absolutely NO intention of ever putting him behind center: ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION.
Again, Jets' management strictly wanted to appeal to the evangelical demographic within the New York Jets fan-base and money garnered with sales of the #15 jerseys when they signed The Genuflecting One.

Rex trusts Tebow as much as Sanchez.. which isn't right . They used him for the wildcat play a few times ,but that's about it.

They got bored but seriously that still boggles my mind why sign him and give him lots of money to play tiddly winks on the sideline i guess they just wanted the publicity

So they can get the great Sal Paolantonio over there to cover the Jets over the summer.

A publicity stunt, figuring that merchandising would make the roster slot essentially pay for itself.

Good question. I think because the owner liked him. Rex Ryan doesn't like him though for some reason. I would trade him to JAX and just get a draft pick back for him.

Pretty dumb move on their part. He was barely used and they paid him starter qb money, i wonder if he sold enough tickets to make up for that
