Why is pop music so bad?
I don't even just mean today, most popular music has been sh*tty forever, it just spiraled out of control in the 80's. I've heard these "catchy" songs, they get boring as hell pretty quick. The only popular song I like I've heard in a while is "Gangman Style". That song's not as bad as anything else I've heard, and ironically, the people who say it sucks don't mind listening to a JB song every once in a while. Weird sh*t, huh? I guess I just don't understand my fellow young people and their music. Most popular bands I don't mind have something or someone redeeming in the band. Queen for example, do I even need to explain who made them? GS retains it's catchiness while not being a total snoozefest and the music video is pretty funny. Then you have sh*t like "Love Shack" and "Baby". Decades apart and totally horrible. Pop's like 7/8's crap. I'm sorry for ranting, but people drive me crazy sometimes. I blame Elvis and the fact that he just ripped off black people. It was like he was forshadowing the sleazyness and mediocrity to come.
How much of pop do you like? All, some, none? Do you think it was ever better? ANSWER THE QUESTION!
You people are lesbians. ANSWER MY QUESTION I WASTED 5 F*CKING POINTS ON THIS OR SOMETING!!! OH MY GAWD YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME CRY AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. . . .
Seriously though, if I get another answer that not even a real f*cking sentence my D's gonna shoot off and fly to the moon.
B*tch about the bad music? I'm stating it's bad and b*tching about the hypocrisy of pop listeners I know. Otherwise, I was just asking for opinions.

i like plenty of pop music. You cant say Elvis ripped off black people because you might as well throw in bill haley and dozens of other artists as well. Little Richard was pop music too you cannot deny that. What you should do is not b i t c h about the bad music and listen to music that you like. I mean Peter Gabriel was popular, but he also pushed musical boundaries just like David Bowie, Pink Floyd and the like. Dark Side of the Moon stayed on the Billboard charts longer than any other album in history. That is a pop chart. So yes it was "better" you could say, but it has never been perfect. I'm not saying i listen to Rihanna or Nicki Minaj and the like, but I am saying that there is always going to be pop stars and they come in different forms.

The first 4 answers made me lulz.
But seriously, the lyrics are generic crap. I'm pretty sure other people write it for the "singers", and the ones who actually try to write their own stuff don't actually put in real effort to write good stuff. Simply the fact that it's "catchy" doesn't even count as decent music.

There is just right and dangerous in every type of tune and not everybody likes the same thing (although tons of children like particularly dangerous pop!) but take just a few examples of excellent current pop, e.G. Mika, Scissor Sisters, The Hoosiers

they stopped learning how to actually play there music instruments there voices are all sugar coated with cheesey harmonics, the lyrics suck its just a rehash of a rehash of something stupid to begin with, they need to dig deep from our vast music vault if you will and try to come up with something origional with real singing origional lyric and musical instruments then maybe just maybe theyll be redeemed as musical talent,no more justin beiber,or cheesey african american mutated singing sucks spare the airwaves folks

It used to be called bubble gum music, disco took a dive etc. It is a good thing we have so much to chose from so find a different genre for a while. Good luck.

It's not. Just most of it (but not all of it)
Source(s): You take me up (Thompson Twins), View to a Kill (Duran Duran), Love and Pride (King), I engineer (Animotion), Be Near Me (ABC), West End Girls (Pet Shop Boys), Real Real Real (Jesus Jones), Throwing things (Ned's Atomic Dustbin), No more words (Berlin), etc. etc. etc
