Pretty sure the dolphin species are quite comfortably able to deal with any other top predators in the oceans apart from any larger and or nastier dolphin species. Since the orcas are the biggest (baddest?) of the dolphins, it seems pretty sure they can take out a GW shark. There is some folklore that indicates the term "killer whale" came into the English lexicon via the west coast native tribes calling the orca "whale killers" which is what they sometimes are. Certain orca subgroups sometimes hunt other whale species and they certainly scavenge whale carcasses floating on the water.

A few people see a giant black and white dolphin munching on a dead blue whale near the beach and they call it a whale killer. It's a name both deserved and not really deserved at the same time. Separate subgroups of orcas exist and behave very differently when it comes to hunting and food choices.

Coming back to your question, I'm pretty sure that since even smaller dolphins don't exactly fear any sharks, then an orca would pretty much take care of a great white shark any time it needed to do so. Aside from teaming up if they can, the dolphins use their snouts as blunt instruments and seem to be some of the most agile swimmers out there. Sharks basically look for easy prey or things that really don't belong in the ocean like drunken beachgoers. All the dolphins have excellent defence and formidable offence. The sharks are hit and run eating machines. Among dolphin species, the orcas also happen to have an equally serious set of teeth and jaws to take down any shark.

Smarts count for a lot in a fight to the death as well.

Killer whales off the coast of south africa have been known to kill great white sharks in packs. If it was 1v1 probably the great white would win
