Yes, there are lots of differences. You can do much much more with a laptop. It all depends on your needs though. If you are going to read emails, play simple games and use your i-pad for small stuff not taking a lot of processing, and all the applications you use are available on i-pad, then go for i-pad. Else stick with a laptop.

Personally I'm an apple person but I've gotta say laptop. They are faster, better at downloading, last for a long time, and files can be transferred from computer to hard drive/ computer/ USB.

If you were to buy a computer though you would have to spend a good $600 or more for good quality. IPad STARTS at $500

    Hope I helped! Merry Christmas

    Laptop.

You cant do as much as stuff on a ipad than a laptop. A ipad doesnt have flash player or java. If you have an iphone the ipad is really just worthless. Well you can also download books on the ipad, it just depends on the kind of person you are. A laptop is easier for work. Its also reall hard to type on a ipad and control it without a stylus.

Well, what do you want to do with it? If you are doing serious office work or content creation, then laptop is the way to go.

If you are more of a casual user, tablet is a good way to go.

My advice, tablets aren't QUITE THERE YET to be replacing household computers, but it's around the corner. So, if this is your only computation device, I would choose laptop.... maybe one of those touchscreen laptops! best of both worlds :D

Its depends upon your work level and use of the product. As an IT professional I suggest LAPTOP. But in case of easy access and portability(Hold easily) I-pad.

User error is the cause of the laptop "dying". Learn better computing habits and you won't have those computer problems.

And a laptop is better simply because it is a tool, not a toy, like an ifad is.
