What's it like in the Philippines?

I'm currently long distancing with a boy I met some time ago, I want to meet him face to face but I'm afraid, and I don't have nearly enough money to do so(Yet, I have a job as a waiter). What's it like over there?

I don't want to ask him because I might give him ideas and I want it to be a surprise.

Update:

Specifically heading towards Iligan.

Update 2:

And yes, Max, I am gay; it's 2012, it shouldn't matter anymore.

    First things first OK?

Doesn't matter if you are gay - after all it is 2012. Many gay people here so no big deal

think about the money problem next. You didn't say where you are from but sounds like the US. From the West coast it will cost roughly $1,500 just to get here.

You get a free 21 day visa stamped in your passport when you arrive but will cost about $50 a month after that. Legally you are not be allowed to work while you are here but even if you do the min pay is only $10 (ten US dollars) per DAY

So if you come over for only the 21 days you will spend at least $2500 for the trip!

Don't pay any attention to the trolls here they are just jealous of you

It depends which part of the Philippines It's quit crowded around the streets. Lots of people selling in there mini markets and people riding on tricycles and vans. There is a huge mall there and tons of places to go to If you go around you can see fish markets and beaches. Very hot in the summer, but I heard it's nice to be there in the winter.

It is hot and humid. similar to california. The culture is pretty good for visiting. I have lived in the PHilippines for years and married one. depending on where exactly you will be going can determine what is available and what you do. some areas are still good and rural not any american food except McDonald's and no malls.

Now to the Chinese those comments about the PHilippines are wrong, Yes i have lived in both PI and China. Well i lived next to clear water bay the most poluted water in the world. I have seen filfth in both china and PI If you are talking about SIngapore then yes it is the cleanest city for many years but most of china is not like this.
