How to get DVDs to play to the size of my tv?
I have a 42 in LCD tv, when I watch DVDs there is unused space on the sides and top/bottom of every DVD. I'd say honestly about 1/3 of my screen has the actual movie on it, the rest is just black

I'm sure there is a setting on your TV to wide the movie or watch it full screen.

There should be a option the "setup menu" of your DVD player. So look at the remote control for a menu button or a set up button.
Currently this option setting is set to 4:3 For your TV this option needs to set to 16:9. You use the remote control to change this setting. from 4:3 to 16:9.
While you are in the menu system you should also change the output option to "progressive" scan and then connect the DVD to the TV with a HDMI Cable or the Component option. video RGB and sound RW. The picture is much better.

That is because when the movie was made it was made at a certain ratio means that is how its suppose to look. You should be able to change the screen by hitting a button on the remote or from the menu options. I have those options on dvd, tv and satellite remote.
