whats the best rating for a future pilot in the USA?

lets say i will be an airline pilot in the next 5-10 years. what would be the best rating for me to get?

    I have to agree with Zaphod because the median age of "new hires" at the major airlines is 34. In the USA almost nobody gets hired, or even an interview, under age 30. The average new hire also has an ATP certificate, 4,000 to 6,000 flight hours and at least 1,000 hours of command experience in a turbine-powered aircraft, preferably over 25,000 pounds gross weight with 2 or more engines.

    Currently, the most common transport category type rating held is for the Boeing 737. You won't even be eligible to enroll in a transport category type rating course until you hold an ATP certificate unless you have a sponsoring employer or you obtain special circumstances approval from the FAA (that's the law). Assuming that you're 17 now, 5 years from now you'll barely be out of college with maybe 300 hours. At current airline hiring and growth rates, it will take 2-3 years from there to obtain an ATP certificate and qualify for a regional airline, and 5 to 10 years at a regional to be competitive for a job with the majors. And that's if you keep your record clean.

    So, the advice given is good. Concentrate on your studies, behave yourself, and worry about getting to the first rung on the ladder, which is your PPL. Don't fail any written or flight tests, or a medical, or your chances for a major airline seat will be impaired. Get a DUI, cause an aircraft accident or incident, or violate the FAR's and get caught for it, your airline prospects will evaporate.

    For a kid still in high school, a flying job at an airline with Boeing 737-sized jets or larger is a solid 15 years off in the future, and maybe closer to 20 years. 5 to 10 years from now is a pipe dream. FACT. Fleets can change dramatically in 15 to 20 years. Five years from now you'll be lucky to be qualified to get a flight instructors job. This is a question that isn't remotely worth asking until you have a 4 year college degree, an ATP certificate and at least 1,500 flight hours under your belt. There's nothing wrong with dreaming and having goals, but you're jumping the gun years before your race has even been started. Relax. Focus on graduating high school and keeping your hormones under control. One false step and the possibility of an airline career could be over in a flash.

    If its costing you 35 lac for simply 250 hours of flying for CPL direction, then its luxurious..If they're providing you with sort ranking with it then opt for it.. There are many well faculties in USA which cost sixteen - 20 lac for CPL with multi ranking opt for the ones faculties, dont spend an excessive amount of..     Go for long hauls if you're willing to sell your soul, especially the 777, which is what I'd do. Otherwise, go for things like the 737 and A320.
