Is my cat dead or alive, HELP!!!?

So i put my cat in a steel box along with a vile of hyrdocyanic acid. Also in the box is a mechanism containing a small amount of hydrocyanic acid. If any part of the acid (in the mechanism) decays, it trips a reaction, releasing the hammer, breaking the vile, and killing the cat...

Is my cat dead? What are the odds that it is dead?

BQ: WHO AM I?

Update:

Oh...i'm sorry...i didnt know i cant study quantum paradox

Update 2:

THANK YOU JENNIFER! <3

And no i didnt think i was being original, i got this from a post i saw on a Facebook page...no one commented anything bout Schrodinger on that page tho...

The odds are much higher that you simply copied this from others, and this type of nonsense appears with depressing regularity, by people who think they are being funny.

And besides, it is apparent you have little knowledge of HCN, since it wouldn't be in the form you have described, nor is it corrosive to eat away at some mechanism.
