  • What plants can I put in a chilean rose haired tarantulas enclosure?

Rose hairs apparently only need around 55-65% humidity, mostly coming from the water dish. The substrate should be kept dry-ish. So what sort of plants would be suitable for it's enclosure?

  • How to lure a kitten out of a car?

Okay, so I'm in school now, but when I was walking, I heard a kitten meowing. I love cats, so I naturally headed towards the sound. It came from a car parked by the street. I meowed like a mother cat would, and it meowed too. It's meow was frantic, not just a regular kitten meow. But I had to go to school, so I left it.

I headed back during break, and it was still there. I haven't actually seen the kitten, but I know it's there. I'm not sure how deep it's in there, or whether it can come out on its own. Break was too short though, so I had to give up and head back.

So, after a few hours, school will be finished, and I will go back again. This time, I plan to stay until the kitten comes out, or that I know its safe.

The couple of times I meowed, from a distance, it meowed too. But when I got close and meowed, it stopped meowing. I think its scared of me, but I'm really concerned for its safety now.

I'm not sure what to do, or how to get it out. Not knowing if its stuck or just in there by its free will makes it really hard. Should I call somebody? Like animal people or something?? I don't know... I also do not know who the car belongs to... Gosh.

  • 1 gallon brine shrimp tank as pets?

So I'm thinking about converting my 1 gallon into a brackish water mini aquarium for brine shrimp. I'm not raising them for food, I'm raising them as pets. I want them to be healthy, and I would like to plant the aquarium to make it healthier and more natural as well as more aesthetically pleasing. Would a small colony of brine shrimp be able too live happily and reproduce? I'm planning to add some rocks and driftwood and sand/dirt substrate. I'm also searched up which plants would be able to live in brackish water, and I see that java moss and fern would be a great choice. I'm just wondering if they would be able to live happily in there... and what other tiny tank mates would suit? Would it work? And their eggs, do they need like a dis-pause or can they hatch outright? because i would like a sustaining colony.

  • Micro Tank?

I have a one gallon corner tank that I'm hoping to use. lt'd be too small for any fish, so I'm thinking of some other aquatic thing to put in. After scouring the internet for different uses, I finally found something suitable. Sea Monkeys! I remember having some sea monkeys when I was younger and they were definitely very cool. This time though, instead of the typical sea monkey setup, I would like something more natural- like a planted tank... would sea monkeys be able to live in such a setup and reproduce and just stay that way without having to dry it out? Also, the whole fairy shrimp, brine shrimp, sea monkeys thing is a little confusing. Apparently, there are many species of fairy shrimp. What are the differences and which is the easiest (freshwater, etc). I also hope to put in other critters that could live with them. I don't plan on putting any actual shrimp in there, like cherries or ghosts, as I have other larger containers for them.

Any other animal that could live in a 1 gallon suggestions are appreciated. I'm also wondering if triops are able to live in the one gallon...

On another note, I have this 0.5 gallon vase, where i added dirt and driftwood and live plants from my fish tank and after a while in the sunlight, I found little almost microscopic things darting around, as well as a little pond snail. After inspecting closer, I found little wormy things too... does anyone know what they could be?

  • Which tarantulas should I get(beginner)?

I have never owned a Tarantula or anything similar, though I am very fascinated by animals of any species. I'm planning to get a tarantula or two... and I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to get. I really like the Mexican Redknee and the Chilean Flame Rump, and I also like the Chaco Goldenknee and Green Bottle Blue. I think I should probably get more than 1 because I'm most likely going to order them online, and with flat rate shipping, it would be more worth it. I seriously don't know what to pick: one or two, three maybe? Which ones? If I'm able to get one locally, let's say maybe at a Reptile Expo, then I'd probably just get one. Also, which online website is best for the spiders?

Another thing that would be a factor is the temp and humidity that they need to be kept in as well as food. I'd much rather have a species needing regular room temp. For the food issue, I'm going to get a fruit fly culture for the slings(I'm going to raise them from slings), and when they grow older, I'm going to breed mealworms and dubia roaches. I cannot get crickets since I would not be able to breed them or make trips to the petstore often.

I have researched, but I would like to have them compared with each other... the pros and cons.

    Thanks

  • What do Nerite Snails eat when there is no more algae in the tank?

I have two nerite snails that I've gotten from Petsmart about a week or so ago. I've never thought too much about the food situation, but now they've rid the whole tank of algae and I'm wondering how they are going to sustain themselves... They are still fairly active, but there seems to be nothing that they are taking in (nutrient wise). SO yeah, I'd like to know what to feed them, or not, or what to do?

  • Which is the better pet, mouse or hamster?

I know that many of you will say rats(and even though I haven't had one, I would agree with all the evidence given), but out of the 2 animals given, which is better? I really can't decide myself...

I had a pair of Robo hamsters when I was 10 years old, and I would say that it wasn't the best choice. So many children these days pic of Robo hamsters instead of Syrians, because they are cuter... but what they don't know is that they are so hard to tame.

Now, at age 15, I have 4 mice, and I'm a much better pet owner, considering the age difference. But I can't say that there is much of a difference between mice and Robo hamsters with their sociability towards humans. Both are small and skittish. Mice are more interesting to watch, though, as they are more agile and can climb and jump better than Robos and well as their social interactions between one another.

I haven't ever had any other species of hamster as a pet, nor have I had gerbils. In your opinion, which is a better pet? And indicate the species of hamster if you choose hamster. I wonder if the other dwarf species or Syrians are more playful..

  • How do I get my cat to stop spraying?

I have a female cat who is 5 years old, and she is indoor-outdoor. She is spayed, and has been since she was 6 months old. I'm pretty sure that it is not a UTI, since she does it very deliberately(I know it's for territorial reasons). She is an odd cat. I think throughout her life, she's always 'marked' her territory by pushing her but against a wall and peeing. Which is strange, since most people think that females don't spray, especially spayed females. She is okay with the presence of her brother, but recently, there has been another cat. My neighborhood is full of cats though(very quiet suburban, not near large roads, a little creek nearby, no large dogs, no wild animals, good weather, no snow, plenty of cat lovers, lots of people feeding cats...) So I have been taming this cat(1 year old female) (I keep track of all the cats in the neighborhood, their family trees and age), and my cat is getting super territorial. She often chases her around or smacks her with her paw. And the new cat has been entering my room lately... and now my cat is pissing on my walls! Now do I stop it...? I can tell that she gets irritated easily when the other cat is around. Could I possibly make them friends? What to recommend... I heard about the Feliway thing... do you think that'll help?

  • HELP, I accidentally spilled olive oil on pet mouse?

I know it's really stupid and idiotic, but I've learned my lesson, and I'll never do it again. No, I was not trying to burn up my mouse or anything like that. I just wanted to grease up the squeaky wheel, but I accidentally spilled about half a spoonful on my poor mousie.

The mouse and her mousie mates are now grooming her. so I was wondering, should I just let them take care of it, or should I intervene? I don't know what i could do for her though. I can't use soap or any detergents, only water, and that won't work against soap... Please tell me that it won't harm her....

  • How to get my goldfish fins to be longer?

They are comet goldfish. Living indoors. They were feeder fish, and I've noticed that their fins have gotten longer and more flowing. I saw some pictures of comet goldfish on google and noticed that some had huge tails and fins. I'm wondering how their fins could grow longer and faster.

  • When is a mouse fully grown?

I mean the domestic mouse that we commonly have as pets... or pests. I would like to know the age that they are fully grown and mature, not sexually mature, as there is a difference. We humans are fully grown and mature at around 25 years of age, while we are sexually mature at whenever puberty hits around 13-15. So... yeah, the question is, "When are mice fully grown and mature?"

  • What is your interpretation of "Dog of Man" by David Firth?

I just watched it and I feel like I need an explanation... You should also watch it on youtube and give your interpretation of it... Yes, it's probable that he didn't design it to have a meaning, but I just want YOUR interpretation. There is no right answer... Or if you don't have one, just tell how you feel about it.

  • Do hamsters smell less than mice?

In your opinion, do hamsters smell less or more than mice. Describe the odor... If you had a Syrian hamster in an enclosure and the mice(3 or 4) in another same size enclosure and everything kept equal, which will smell more? Also, by mice, I mean female mice, not males. Compare mice with robo hamsters as well. Same number of robos as mice.

Also, what ways did you keep the mice stink from getting to you? I have them in my smallish bedroom, and I have to keep the window open, because if I didn't, the smell would overwhelm me. I clean the cage once or less than once a week. I tried using deodorants, but that just made the smells more disgusting and thick...

The 2 questions are in no way related to each other....

  • Could mice and robo hamsters live together?

Now, I am very knowledgeable about these animals, so there is no need to educate me on them. But, I would like to know if anyone here has successfully cohabited 2 or more of different species of rodents together... preferably of mice and robo dwarfs. Please explain the process of putting them together and the like. Especially about their bonds and whether they got close or kept their distance. I have searched a lot on this topic, but haven't found much. I would like to try it out, since they are relatively the same size and are both nice, social animals. I would never try something that I don't think is compatible, such as varying sizes, (e.g., syrian hamsters and robos; rats and hamsters; rats and mice) I don't know why people make such a fuss about keeping separate species of rodents together if it works out... I mean, people keep different birds and fish together, right? I have mice now, in a 20 gallon and would like to try housing them with robos. I have a spare 10 gallon in case in doesn't work out. I'm not an irresponsible uneducated person, who rashly puts these animals together, and thinking it's okay, because if I see the slightest bit of a confrontation, I would separate them. Also, don't be that ignorant person that says that they will breed because that is genetically impossible.

  • How to get my mice to stop biting me?

Because they aren't so tame, I often give them little treats to make it easier. However, they've gotten used to my presence as "the treat giver" and whenever I put my hand into the cage, they come over and try to bite my fingers. It's not in an aggressive way, but it's pretty annoying... So how can I make them stop? How can I make them see my hands as a nice thing, not just something that gives them treats?

  • Rosie red minnow poop?

Do they poop a lot? No one really mentions how much they poop, but I see them poop more than the goldfish! They kind of just swim around with long strands of poop trailing behind them...

  • How many pets do you have?

I have 2 cats and a stray cat that I'm taming, 4 female mice, and 6 fishies. I'm thinking of getting a pair of robo hamsters, a gecko, and a tarantula.

    What do you have?

  • How old are the feeder comet goldfish that they sell at Petsmart?

Usually at what age do they sell the ones about 1-1.5 inches including fins? Also, what age do they sell the rosy red minnows? The one that are about an inch long. For Example, they are like 4 months? Just a guess... Helpful to know the real age.

    Just wondering~
