Who thinks giving guns to teachers is a bad idea?
I just was watching the news and California is thinking about giving guns to teachers!
I cannot believe that they would even think about such a thing. This is a horrible idea, and to think that this is all because of the Newtown shooting. The next thing we will have to worry about is some teacher going crazy and shooting kids!
So my question, who else thinks this is a bad idea?

no matter what happens ... teachers are not cops !!!

You dont know my state very well do you?
California is as liberal as it gets. NEVER will happen. You have your facts wrong. If you follow the news, youll find a senator in Nebraska and one in Wisconsin made a bill (that will never go anywhere btw)
In my state a *city councilman* made the suggestion - not a school board member. not a state legislator - not even a parent~! Anyone can mouth off. It will never happen! City councilmen are not in charge of schools - voters vote in school board - and no school board can break state law.
My school has armed police officers btw. Giving a gun to our drama teacher is a spectacularly bad idea for everyone anywhere. :)

It's the only solution you American can think off is guns more guns and still more, Why not arm the five year old's as well The principle can have a machine gun covering the play area and a tank in the staff room.
The gardener can hide behind the bushes with a flame thrower. when will you americans learn that guns are made to kill.

Absolutely it's a bad idea. Any responsible gun owner or handler knows, know your target and what's behind it, or don't draw. Would any responsible person really fire a gun, at a moving target, in a classroom with wood or paper walls, with scared, unruly children everywhere. Sometimes guns do, in fact, make a problem worse. Every firearm handler has a very serious responsibility to evaluate situations and make a good choice about weather or not to draw.
Every teacher does not need that responsibility.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DANGEROUS IDEA!!!! Yes the teachers may shoot students if they are not right in the head, a teacher tried to run my sister over once. Not only this but some teachers may commit suicide because now they have an easier way. Students could steal the guns and obviously shoot others. The idea makes me sick, It is HORRIBLE AND HORRIFIC idea!

The most likely scenario is that a child will find the gun and shoot himself or a classmate. This happens frequently when parents keep guns at home.

Of course its a bad idea. If you want to provide armed security for schools, get a security guard or law enforcement officer to do so.

they aren't very good at teaching they are probably much worse at shooting , look out for an increase in toes and fingers blown off in california, if the next massacre is done with grenades will Ca issue grenades , we already see guards with automatic weapons at airports what are they going to do open fire with an M16 in a crowded arrivals hall

It's ridiculous. Are the kids in prisons or schools? Are there teachers or guards? Should we punish all American students for the isolated incidence of stupid?

It's a stupid reaction looking at a few bizarre incidences in hindsight. We shouldn't restrict video games, movies, or guns themselves. We should pinpoint these individuals with problems, and help them before they go on a rampage.
