Trying to use my car for trade in but no title?

Ok, my boyfriend and I want to use his vehicle to trade in for the down payment on a new car. I got approved. But is this possible? Do I request a new title? Or can I even do this? The car title was used for collateral his brother's bond, can I still do it or no? Please help!!

No. Of course you can't do this. No dealer in their right mind would take something in without the title. No private buyer that has a brain would buy a car without a title. It is no longer your car. It is the loan company's car.

No, you can not. To transfer ownership of a vehicle, you need a clear and current title naming your boyfriend as owner. The reason you don't have a title is because it is in the hands of the owner of the vehicle, the entity that put up his brother's bond, so no. Of course once you get the clear title back you can, but you can't now.

If it is your vehicle, then you request a new title.

If it is his vehicle, then he requests a new title. You do not. You cannot do this, because it is not your car. Only he can do this because it is his car.
