    What LEDs?

You can certainly get LEDs that are the correct spectrum, and plenty powerful enough for plants, but they tend to be expensive.

The cheaper LED kits that come with smaller tank kits are simply for decoration and letting you see the fish better.

Yes they do. I have LED's growing Cryptcorynes, Aponogetons, Bolbitis ferns, Java ferns, Bacopa, and Saggitaria in a 150 gallon tank. The Crinum calamistratum I had in there split and propagated several times, and I recently moved it to another tank because it was getting too large for this display aquarium. Anubias should be fine too. Many LED lights have a mix of white, pink, and blue light emitters which gives a full spectrum in combination.

These plants all grow well under LED lights without CO2 injection, but with a good plant substrate, supplemental plant products made by Flourish, and lots of Nerite snails, and Otocinclus. Swordplants need higher light than my LED produces, but it's not as bright as many newer ones are.

There are great LEDs, but there are going to be a little more costly then standard lighting. The TMC AquaRay LED line has been proven to have better growth then a Metal Halide! You have to be careful though, but you can get LEDs that are no better than LEDs from a cheap flashlight. You need to find LEDs that give off the exactly lighting spectrum that plants need. So, what are your goals and how much are you willing to spend? Hands down, if you want the best, go with TMC LEDs. I'm including a few sources that go into great depth as to why these LEDs are so good. If anyone out there tell you that LEDs are no good, it's because they haven't used the right ones. There is junk out there. Hope this helps.

I can tell you without hesitation, that LED lighting hs no issues with growing plants. I have tested it on Wisteria, Moneywort, Christmas Moss, Java Moss, Flame Moss, Dwarf Hair Grass, Moss balls, Micro Sword, Dwarf Baby Tears, and Anachrias. Try to get a fixture with wattage that doubles of triples the amount of gallons in the aquarium.

Ofcourse my success can not be soley contributed to lighting, nutrient rich plant substrate, liquid fertilization, and co2 all played a part in the growth my plants.

    Good luck and goodnight.

That is a very good question. But with the plants I want I am not going to chance it , Nothing is to good for my Discus.

tip plant shallow. tie on small fishing weights you can even have plants take root on drift wood or rock. Some of the Led set ups are more money Than the full spectrem st ups. AND THAT IS AT PET SMART

I buy most of my plants at Aquqrium Plants .com. No ancors, fertilizer or co2 !!!! plant do fon with out all the extras.

Depends on the voltage of LEDs but they should grow plants that thrive in low to moderate light. If you have more sensitive plants such as madagascar lace or baby tears I would recommend using a Florasun or stronger LED if possible.

If you have strong enough LEDs for the plants you want then yes they will grow
