you solder a coupler on to join the pipe. very easy repair. the pulldown and refrigerant is the expensive part. vac pumps are way to expensive for a 1 time use, and iff you are asking about repairing the pipe, its obvious you wouldnt know how to pull down or charge.

Actually you should braze it instead of soldering as you get a much stronger connection. The pressures are too much for soldering. Once the tubing on an a//c unit is cut and repaired you will have to draw a vacuum to remove all of the gas in the system then refill it with freon or what ever they use now days.

the fee of copper has long gone contained in the direction of the roof. we don't produce any in this u . s . anymore. we could consistently import it, like each and every little thing else,,, from China! i'm interior the HVAC biz. It has grow to be a very enormous subject for us. If we artwork in a community the place crime is a topic, we wait till the final minute to place in copper, appropriate earlier the drywall is going up. i'm shocked we've not got greater stolen. even in spite of the undeniable fact that this is a style of issues a criminal has to artwork at. And maximum crooks are lazy, thank goodness!

yes, you can solder copper, but you have a bigger problem. You have loss all of your freon. It is the gas and liquid that makes the physics of air conditioning work.

If they took your condenser and compressor for scrap, i suggest to contact your insurance agent.

I am not sure why you are asking the question or what you are planning to do? Give me some details please. Help me help you.

You can solder it as long as there is no water at all in the pipe. Water in the pipe will not allow the solder to run.
