Am I overweight for a runner?

I run 5 days a week. I'm 5' 8" and I weigh 124. My body fat is 15.8%. Most long distance runners are really lean and thin. Not skinny, cause they're in shape. I know I'm not like super fat or anything, but am I sort of over weight compared to the typical runners build? I don't think people believe me when I say I run cause I don't think I look like a runner....

I mean I know you don't have to LOOK a certain way to be a runner, obviously. I am just wondering.

There are no standards for runners that are different from the normal health standards that you could look at and determine if you are "over weight" for a runner. But I do believe that athletes have different weight standards based on their sport. Obviously we all have a performance weight where we will perform at our very best.

A good way to determine weight vs height is to start at 5 foot 100lbs. Add 5lbs for women (5-7lbs for men) per inch. So you should be 140lbs at 5'8'' give or take. So you are already underweight for your height and it is not common to be 15% body fat as a woman. So if anything I would make the case you are underweight (which can harm performance as well).

I compete (good run in) plenty of races - one a month - and those races have plenty of runners all accumulated in combination in a single situation and are a well situation to peer the shapes of the runners. At the entrance row all of the lean believe runners collect after which a at the back of them all of the ordinary individuals collect. From what I have visible runners are available all shapes and health phases in a race. It is right nevertheless that the extra you run then you're more likely to grow to be leaner and more healthy

I think you sound just fine! Don't even worry about what one person thinks, if so, leave them in the dust while racing them!
