MTG Question about Farseek?

Let's say I cast Farseek, which says I can put a Plains, Mountain, Island, or Swamp into play tapped from my library. I search my library for a Hallowed Fountain, which is an Island Plains. It also says I can pay 2 life to prevent it from entering the battlefield tapped. Is it possible to pay 2 life to prevent the Fountain from entering the field tapped off of Farseek?

    Nope.

Hallow Fountain does not say what you think it does.

"As Hallowed Fountain enters the battlefield, you may pay 2 life. If you don't, Hallowed Fountain enters the battlefield tapped."

Not that you can pay 2 life to have it enter the battlefield untapped, just that if you don't, it'll enter the battlefield tapped.

And if you want, here's the card ruling:

10/1/2005 If another effect (such as Loxodon Gatekeeper's ability) tells you to put lands onto the battlefield tapped, it enters the battlefield tapped whether you pay 2 life or not.

But yes, if it matters, you CAN choose to pay the two life.

Nope, you sure can't. Since the Farseek brings the land into play tapped, the extra bit on the Fountain does nothing since the Farseek puts the land into play tapped.

Hallowed Fountain doesn't let you pay 2 life to have it enter untapped. Its default is to enter tapped, which you can pay 2 life to ignore. However, that payment applies only to the Fountain's own ability. Any other effects that cause it to enter tapped will apply.

You can pay 2 life if you want, but it will enter tapped regardless.
