  • MTG Ruling: Varolz, the Scar-Striped?

Varolz, the Scar-Striped says "Each creature in your graveyard has scavenge."

Let's say I have a Knight of Infamy and a Varolz, the Scar-Striped in play. I attack with the Knight of Infamy, and its Exalted trigger makes it a 3/2. Before the turn ends, I use Varolz's sacrifice ability to put the Knight of Infamy in my graveyard. Is the Knight of Infamy still considered a 3/2 while it's in the graveyard until the turn ends, or does it go back to a 2/1? So if I tried to scavenge the Knight onto my Varolz, would it result in 3 counters or only 2?

  • MTG Ruling: Epic Experiment?

Epic Experiment is a sorcery for XUR that reads "Exile the top X cards of your library. For each instant and sorcery card with converted mana cost X or less among them, you may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that weren't cast into your graveyard."

Let's say I exile the top 5 cards and reveal 5 instants and sorceries. I choose to cast two of them and not cast the other three. The three that I didn't cast would go to my graveyard, but where would the two cards that I DID cast end up? Would they go to the graveyard as a result of my casting them and resolving, or would they remain in exile where they started?

  • MTG Question about Farseek?

Let's say I cast Farseek, which says I can put a Plains, Mountain, Island, or Swamp into play tapped from my library. I search my library for a Hallowed Fountain, which is an Island Plains. It also says I can pay 2 life to prevent it from entering the battlefield tapped. Is it possible to pay 2 life to prevent the Fountain from entering the field tapped off of Farseek?

  • MTG Ruling: Blood Moon?

Let's assume I have two nonbasic lands in play, one of which taps for white (we'll say Hallowed Fountain). My opponent casts a Blood Moon. In response to the activation, I float two mana, one of it white, and allow the enchantment to resolve. I know that this passes priority back to my opponent on his main phase, but am I then permitted to use the floating mana for a spell (ie. Disenchant) before he ends his main phase?

  • MTG: Need help naming my Standard deck!?

A silly request, but I wanted some advice. I'm running a Standard deck that is essentially red, blue, white and green good stuff.dec. It runs cards like Jace, Architect of Thought, Huntmaster of the Fells, Thragtusk, Restoration Angel, and Sphinx's Revelation.

The most basic name I can come up with is 4c Midrange, but that seems boring to me. I've considered Nonblack Midrange, Blue Naya, White RUG and Red Bant. Any other ideas?

  • A couple questions concerning Valakut + Prismatic Omen...(MTG)?

Since Valakut was unbanned in Modern, I had a couple questions about the interactions with the card Prismatic Omen, which says, "All lands you control are all basic land types in addition to its other types." So, then, here are a few scenarios in which I am unsure of what happens....

    1. I have a Valakut, Prismatic Omen and four other lands in play. I play another Valakut. I know that this triggers the Valakut already in play, but does the Valakut I just played trigger ITSELF for three damage, as it itself is a mountain entering play?

    2. I have a Valakut, Prismatic Omen and five other lands in play. I cast Scapeshift, sacrificing my four non-Valakut lands and searching for three more Valakuts and two Mountain to put into play. Since they enter simultaneously, do they a) each trigger Valakut for fifteen total damage, b) only one triggers Valakut as the "sixth" land to enter play, or c) all four Valakuts trigger five separate times for sixty damage?

    3. I have a Prismatic Omen in play and six basic lands. I cast a Primeval Titan and search for two Valakuts. Do they a) Not trigger at all, since they weren't themselves in play yet as they entered the battlefield, b) Trigger separately for six damage, or c) Each triggers for their own entry as well as the entry of the other Valakut, equaling 12 damage?

Sorry if it sounds confusing, but I tried my best. It seems like a pretty complex interaction.

  • MTG Quick question about Delver of Secrets?

Let's say I'm holding a Gut Shot in hand, and my opponent has an un-flipped Delver of Secrets in play. On his upkeep, I choose to let the triggered ability for Delver resolve, so he looks at the top card. Then he reveals an instant or sorcery. Does Delver's transform ability count as a triggered ability when the card is revealed? So can I respond to the card reveal with a Gut Shot before Delver transforms into a 3/2?

  • MTG Ruling Q about Zealous Conscripts?

Let's say my opponent has a creature in play that has a Rancor (an Aura) attached to it. I cast Zealous Conscripts, which lets me steal any permanent. If I choose Rancor, will I get to assign it to one of my own creatures?

  • MtG question about Mimic Vat?

Mimic Vat is an artifact that says "Imprint — Whenever a nontoken creature dies, you may exile that card." So let's say I cast a Day of Judgment while Mimic Vat is on the field, and my opponent has a Geralf's Messenger with no counters out. The Messenger dies, and two things should happen: the Undying trigger from the Messenger, and the activated ability of the Mimic Vat.

Would I be able to exile Messenger with the Mimic Vat before the Undying trigger resolves?

  • Ruling question for MtG...?

Fiend Hunter is a creature with 2 abilities. Its first ability says, "When it enters the battlefield, you may exile another target creature." Its second ability is, "When it leaves play, return the exiled creature to play."

What is the interaction with "blink" effects, such as Cloudshift? I have heard it said that the exiled creature will be gone indefinitely if Fiend Hunter is blinked, because of the way the stack triggers. Something like, the "leaves play" clause doesn't resolve before Fiend Hunter returns, but then would it count as the same creature? I'm a bit confused on the ruling, if somebody could please elaborate.

  • Magic the Gathering ONLINE question?

I'm having an issue with my Magic: the Gathering Online program that I'm hoping someone who uses it can solve. Basically, I know that within the Combat Phase, there is the attacks phase, blocks phase, and damage phase. There should be a time after the opponent declares attackers on their turn that I gain priority BEFORE blockers have to be announced. For some reason, my game client is skipping straight from declare attackers to declare blockers, so I don't get to respond by flashing in any creatures to block (Wolfir Avenger, Faerie Invaders, etc.). How can I set it up so it does not to this by default?

  • Ruling question (MtG)...?

I have a quick question about the stack and card wording. Trading Post has an effect that says 1, tap, sacrifice a creature: return an artifact from graveyard to hand. Let's say I have a Solemn Simulacrum on the field which I want to sacrifice. Because I sacrifice it as part of the activated ability's cost, would I be able to return the same Simulacrum to hand that I just sacrificed? Or do I have to have a legal target BEFORE Simulacrum goes to the yard?

  • Ruling question for Magic the Gathering?

Archive Trap is an instant that costs 3UU, but it can be cast for 0 if an opponent searched his/her library this turn. Let's say I have an Archive Trap in the graveyard, and the opponent searches their library. If I use Snapcaster Mage to give the Archive Trap flashback, can I still cast it for 0, or do I have to pay the full casting cost?

  • Magic the Gathering question?

Let's say there is a Delver of Secrets and a Dark Confidant in play. Both have an ability that checks the top card of your library at the beginning of your upkeep. Do I have the option of choosing which trigger happens first? So, for instance, if I put Dark Confidant's ability on the stack first and reveal a non-instant, non-sorcery and put it to my hand, then does Delver still trigger if the NEXT card on top of my library is an inst. or sorc.?

  • Magic the Gathering question: Inferno Titan?

Inferno Titan says when it enters the battlefield or attacks, it deals 3 damage divided among 1-3 targets. Let's say I resolve a Titan and choose to deal the damage among three of my opponent's 1/1 creatures. In response, he casts Cloudshift, removing one of his creatures from play. Obviously that creature would be spared from the 1 damage, but would the rest of the Inferno Titan trigger fizzle, allowing the other two creatures to survive? Or would only that 1 damage be prevented, and the other 2 damage from the trigger happens anyway?

  • Magic the Gathering question: Arcane Melee...?

Arcane Melee is an enchantment that says "Instant and Sorcery spells cost 2 less to cast." So obviously, that means an instant that cost 2U would only cost U, etc. But what if an instant or sorcery has "X" in the cost? For instance, if I used five mana to cast a Devil's Play, would x=4 or x=6 thanks to the Arcane Melee? Can it add to the value of X?

  • Magic the Gathering Ruling Question...?

Let's say I have a Warstorm Surge in play, which says that whenever I play a creature, it deals damage equal to its power to a creature or player. Now say I play a Wolfrir Silverheart, which I can pair to a creature upon entering play to give it +4/+4. Do I get to choose which order those effects go onto the stack? In other words, can I pair the Silverheart to a creature to make it an 8/8, and THEN trigger Warstorm Surge to deal 8 damage instead of 4?

  • How do I change the default font/text size in MS Word?

For some reason, the default settings for font and text size in Word changed to Calibri Body, size 11, rather than Times New Roman size 12. How can I change the settings in Word so that every time I open the program, I don't have to manually change it back?

  • Magic the Gathering Ruling Question...?

Let's say I have two creatures in play, and my opponent has a Bloodline Keeper. I attack with my two creatures. He blocks one of the creatures with the Bloodline Keeper, then activates his ability to create a token. Is the token then allowed to block my other creature, or has the declare blockers step already ended?
