My 3 year old cat sleeps a lot, is that normal?

He's still practically a baby, but he spends a good portion of his day sleeping. He does have random bursts of what I call "kitten energy", but it never lasts as long as I'd expect for his age. He east fine and uses the litter box just fine. A vet check a while ago proved him to be healthy, but I'm still kind of worried

Cats are nocturnal, meaning they sleep all day and are out hunting all night.

  • My cat is 2 and he acts the same. When he goes outside he hunts a lot but sleeps a lot. I was told cats sleep like 16 hours a day. It could be a normal cat thing. Make sure the cat is eating good and using the litter box normally. Lethargy could be a sign of Lyme disease or other things so keep a watchful eye.

It is not normal for a 1 year old cat to have trouble jumping to where it has always jumped. Adult cats are somewhat less active than kittens, but it may be that your cat is too lethargic. Maybe it's time for a checkup at the vet.

Yes of course it's normal. Cats spend 2/3 of their life sleeping. This can be from around 16-20 hours per day(or even more or less).

Hi! cats are always sleeping everyday they're just waking up if they want to eat drink walking a little bit playing then resting again sleeping. If they lived in the near by mountain they can hunt for thier food if they are hungry. But cats living in the city has nothing to do than to sleep.

Yes, it is completely normal, cats sleep around 16 hours a day, and if they are kittens more. those bursts of energy are signs that he is healthy and developing his hunting skills, this means he is maturing.

Nothing to worry about. Cats can sleep up to 22 hours a day, so it's perfectly normal that your cat sleeps a lot. The term "cat nap" came about because cats are always napping.

Your cat is in good shape - there is one that comes to visit us sometimes and he walks in the door at 9 AM and sleeps until 6 in the afternoon - no food no litter box visits, just sleep

Yes it's normal because the average cat sleeps 16 hrs a day. :) hope that helped
