Was there an armed guard on duty at Columbine HS at the time of the mass shootings by Harris and Klebold?

I have heard some gun control people say there was an armed guard at Columbine HS and it still didn't prevent the shootings. Can someone clarify that please?

Update:

There seems to be some disagreement as to whether there was one or 2 guards. Apparently the problem was lax security as far as having only 1 entrance unlocked and having an armed guard there.

There was one, and the guard even engaged the pair, but he was outmatched by their firepower.

A guard posted at a single entry point into a school would be good. It may not stop every massacre, but it would prevent some.

Interesting--Two points--#1. That 'security' guard most likely had a 6-shot revolver--ANY semi-automatic weapon was more 'firepower' than he possessed. #2. Funny, I see NO mention HERE or in the anti-gun liberal "lame-stream" media about the FACT that SWAT arrived shortly AFTER the shooting started--their commander ORDERED them to "stand down" until HE arrived! Meanwhile, students were DYING--That event is WHY the cops DO NOT WAIT now--well, DUH?!? I would have DISOBEYED that CLOWN'S order, and DEALT with him later--Boss or NOT!!! (Dumb***!)

Yes, there were two according to the Huffington Post, just like the NRA wants. That didn't work very well did it?
