Strange report. Every sensitivity report I've seen has S/R/MS for every antibiotic listed. Also, I haven't seen a UTI where the e.Coli is resisitant to ciprofloxacin, but sensitive to levofloxacin.

I'd suggest asking the doctor that ordered the test.

I just got off the phone with a friend that got E-coli in Oct 2007 (It is now June 2008) and was unsuccessful with all the antibiotic and traditional allopathic treatments. He did research and used a regimen of cranberry juice, cranberry capsules, apple cider vinegar, alka seltzer, baking soda and perhaps other items. He said it was a strict regimen of doing something every 30-60 minutes. The doctors that treated him are amazed that he kicked it and want to know what he did so they can treat others. I don't have a specific recipe. My friend also mentioned that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) didn't recommend this process, which caused him to do otherwise and go for it. Good thing he did!

You could try the really BEST natural medicine for this which is Cranberry in any form. But the best is the high strength capsules. It usually say I think you can have about 4 of these per day but in cases of dire need take 2 morning, 2 noon and 2 evening with lots and lots of water. Do this a couple of days running and then slip down to a less dose but keep on taking them for at least 5 days - even if symptoms have abated.

This works- But be aware that its not a good thing if you are taking blood thinners - you need to use Cranberry with caution. Cranberry drink is good as well and can be used in conjunction with the capsules.

They cranberry works but as well what its doing is altering the PH of the urine - so whilst you are having this problem and using Cranberry then avoid SUGAR, STARCH and things like BAKING SODA as these tend to alter the PH in the wrong direction.

Drinking lots of water to flush out the system really does help. If urination is painful then you can sit in a warm bath and try peeing in that.

    Keep the kidneys warm.

NO one here should know better than your doctor but it looks like Levaquin (if in the US or Tavanic in Europe) would be a good choice if you are not allergic to fluoroquinolones. If this is a recurrent infection, you may need a longer course but that should be taken up with your doctors. It also depends on what you have been on before and what did not work and how long you were on it.

I was given Cephalexin asa Keflex with D-Mannose and Probiotics. I also took Alka Seltzer a few times before I started the treatment. Since I see you're not sensitive to this, perhaps you should try it also. Hope you feel better soon.
